Nate, don't take this the wrong way, but you haven't had any confidence in this team this year, so I don't really know why you personally would panic now.  I think @Dochalo said it best, it doesn't just make us worse, it makes us boring.

I, what?  I was by far the most optimistic in the pre-season poll.

The only thing about this team I don't have confidence in is Scioscia.

I'm not panicking.  I was more worried before this happened as to whether we had enough to make the playoffs.

Now I know that we don't

I'm glad we didn't give up any long term assets to get short term help.  Now we can just see how things play out until the deadline.

I am sorry guys. But I am not panicking. Yes we are a worse team without Ohtani. But you know what. Every team has significant injuries. The Mariners took off after Cano and Gordon got hurt. We can try and take positives from this. Now we can have Pujols focus on DH, we can get an impact bat who can play 1b or someone like moustakas where we can have more roster flexibility. We can go back to a 5 man rotation and bring ina bullpen piece and we can contend. Hell may Be we even go after a Bumgardener or DeGrom or Syndergaard. Your guys’s Pessimism SUCKS. AND I REFUSE TO LET IT BRING ME DOWN. I STILL THINK WITH THE RIGH ADDITIONS(and no I don’t think we have to GUT our system) WE CAN STILL WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP. ALL YOU PESSIMISTS CAN SUCK IT AND SHUT THE HECK UP.

Don't trade for any rentals, Billy.    Hope Ohtani's arm is fine for 2019, although an innings limit of about 120-140 innings will still need to be in place, after going through this for TWO seasons now.

This is why you play for today and not for the future only.  Anyone can get hurt, nothing is guaranteed. Anything in the future is nowhere near certain. Play for now while also having a plan in place for tomorrow. Do both at the same time.

The exact opposite.  This is why you are patient and decide later in the season to decide to let go of prospects in order to go for it now.

Who cares if he didn't have confidence in the team this year though? This is a long term concern that can carry into next year. I don't think we have a shot this year either, but I'm scared as shit that this will lead to TJS....so panic is understandable. Not for this year really, but more for next year.

Bingo. Where's the trade Garrett Richards thread? Time to bump that because I'm now on board with moving him at the deadline if this team can't stay in the race

Hell, I panicked when Shoemaker went down! No pressure, cause no one expects anything non. RELAX, have fun and lets see what happens. This is still a way better team then last year. a few bullpen pieces, solid day to day dependable right fielder and lets see what happens!

Except they're falling like flies.    First Middleton, then Simmons, then Ohtani, who's next?

AO - I know a few I wouldn't miss, but will not put those names in writing.

I know, I know, probably someone else  (or more) go down before years out. Just the nature of day to day sports. So, Angels need to do what they can, and keep us in this thing without blowing out the future
