My good friends are lifelong Giants fans and still pissed at them for trading future HOFer Gaylord Perry for Sam McDowell in 1972 just as Sam's drinking problem overtook his once promising pitching career. The timing was rather Hamiltonesque.

And Perry right away won 24 games with a 1.92 ERA for Cleveland, and the AL Cy Young in 1972.

Ron Wright. One game, 3 at bats in MLB career. Strikeout, grounded into double play, grounded into triple play. If there were a stat for outs created per plate appearance, his career average of 2.0 would definitely be difficult to beat.

Yep, even the expansion Halos hit 189 HRs in 1961, which was the franchise record until, iirc, 2000.

Granted the friendly confines of Wrigley Field II may have had a little to do with that.

He was the first black player on the Cincinnati Reds.

This photo was taken earlier today. 

He did not have a particularly distinguished career, so this might be difficult.

That's easy to look up, and never having heard of this guy I'll wait and see if someone actually knows without looking.

What I didn't know until just now was that Ernie Banks, "Mr Cub" who I saw play many times...was the first black Cub.

He was ADHD to the max...had to have his game stuff "just so" on the edge of the dugout steps, put everything back just right and his teammates knew not to mess with, or touch, anything.

Wade Boggs was another ADHD case. He ate chicken before every game, woke up the same time every day, took 117 ground balls in pre-game practice, took batting practice at 5:17 pm, and ran sprints at 7:17 pm.

That question was probably unfair. Unless you're an absolute scholar of the game or a Cincinnati Reds historian, I wouldn't expect anyone to know it.

Smiling on the left I believe is Pee Wee Reece...and the tallest Dodger in those days was 6 ft 6 1st baseman Howie Schultz..It isn't Shultz though.

The player in the black cap would be elected, posthumously,  to the HOF... 60 years after this picture was taken.

Nope, it's not Schultz.

hint: He was a pitcher who was 22-3 for the Dodgers in 1951. Between 1951 and '53 he won 44 games and lost only 8.
