Walking Edwin WOULD HAVE BROUGHT THE GUY WHO HIT AN EARLIER JACK TO THE PLATE.

My mistake on the earlier jack.

But still, it worked earlier. You have to load them there. It's do or die at that point. You bring in an outfielder to have 5 men on the infield, and you need to get that force out at the plate, or even better a double play.

And as someone else mentioned, make it a lefty/lefty matchup. The Jays quickly hit the ball hard twice in a row.

Horrible BP management, but there was no reason to load the bases there, with one out.

absolutely wrong.

1st and 3rd, one away, one run wins the game. you have to set up a double play at any base. chopper to the infield with a play at home, without walking the bases full, then you have to tag the runner because there's no force. you set yourself up for a bad throw to lose and take away the double play if the runner on 3rd slows because he knows he's out.

that doesn't even cover the fact that it's encarnacion at the plate.

two massive mistakes by showalter, whom i like, ubaldo freakin' jimenez and not walking the bases full.

I probably would have used Britton starting with Donaldson in the bottom of the 9th and let him go to at least the Sunders spot in the order. I can see maybe waiting it out and using your best matchups other than Britton then but I can't see any way to justify not using him before going to Jimenez in the 11th.

absolutely meaningless information. the situation was what it was.

Interestly enough, Bautista is 3-38 lifetime vs Ubaldo.

Still doesn't excuse Showalter not bringing in Britton , IMO, to start the 11th.  There is no tomorrow.

Also, Orioles have only allowed 1 walk off HR all regular season. Hit by none other than Edwin Encarnacion.
