  1. Many "FOXTROT FOXTROT" EAM messages transmitted over the last 24 hours. 11175 KHz USB FF Flash messages are unprecedented (not even on 9/11), above SKYKING and just below KLAXON EWO. The message length, hundreds of characters, is extremely long. Normally they are just a few characters following the preamble. SA was the kickoff.
  2. Pujols plays like old people fuck. Reminds me of the Barbaro thread. Call it a career dude.
  3. Ranges require that you bring in a gun of your own before they rent you one (prevent suicide). A gun safety course is a good idea. Shot 10's of thousands of rounds and never had an incident always keeping the 4 Rules in mind. I agree about the G19. Some people think they're ugly but they just always work. . I've never tried that but it does look fun. I have steel targets at various distances from handgun/.22 range all the way out to 700 yards. I shoot so much the wild turkeys and deer are used to it. This in in BFE oregon, not far from wash/id.
  4. Good video. They have another video talking about how they designed the underwater suppressor (silencer). Invasive species can be a big problem. A lot of southern states have feral pigs that will move in a 25 to 50 group and tear up a field in a few hours, The boars can be 300 lbs (up to 800 lbs but that's rare) with long tusks. The pigs don't just eat the crop, they will root down a few feet which can cause major damage to a farmer's equipment (combine). Farmers hire out some pros who clear them out with thermal sighted rifles using a suppressed, sub-sonic round. Lots of free ham and bacon. A month later and another large group of feral pigs will show up.
  5. Yeah, that Walther isn't even on the Cal roster of "approved" guns so it's a no-go even if you found some 10-round mags. 9mm is a good choice. Cheap ammo if you shoot often and does the job. I have a well worn Glock 17 (gen3) but can't use the 17 or 33 round mags here (okay in oregon). Rifles are the most fun though.
  6. One of the masked shitbags at the riot was bragging about beating some Trumper and got doxxed. (@Teen_Archer) is Ian Miller. He works at the school. Now he's changed his twitter to @scioscialist and locked it. Shitbag is a baseball fan.
  7. LMFAO, CTR got trolled. http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-01-10/4chan-claims-have-fabricated-anti-trump-report-hoax "The remarkable thing? It's all fake. And not only fake; it's a prank perpetuated by 4chan, on Rick Wilson himself. A post on 4chan on october 26 stated “mfw managed to convince CTR and certain (((journalists))) on Twitter there'll be an October surprise on Trump this Friday” along with a picture of a smug face with a hash name. http://archive.4plebs.org/pol/thread/94704894/#94705224 "
  8. "Buzzfeed’s Trump report takes ‘fake news’ to a new level" http://nypost.com/2017/01/10/buzzfeeds-trump-report-takes-fake-news-to-a-new-level/
  9. Wow, people are really believing this?
  10. There's a gap in the fence at 33.7851541,-117.5069012. There's an orange cement pillar that blocks motorcycles but hikers can get through. You might have to lift your bike over. The trail hooks up with Bedford Motor Way at 33.7756751,-117.5374302. I don't know what condition it is. I'll make a flight up to where it connects. There used to be a fun single track called coldwater canyon (or similar) that let out at glen ivey from the Main Divide. The owners stopped letting mtnbikers go through there about 10 or 15 years ago. It's now under new ownership so that's a possibility too.
  11. Great video. I did a flight early this morning. About 1000 ft of elevation gain. Followed a ridge line up and a different ridge line (with a seldom used bike trail) most of the way back.
  12. http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2016/12/19/jumbo-jets-low-turn-on-wrong-course-startles-neighborhood/ Dumb bitch air traffic controller at LAX doesn't know left from right.
  13. Darren O'Day comes to mind. He's put up a career similar to Shields, just in a more pitcher friendly era and with a different trajectory. Our pen would have looked so much better the last 8 years with him in it. All teams will have some "the one that got away" moments, but I will say that I don't miss Butcher one bit.
  14. Agreed. I listened to that a few days ago and have thought about it several times since. Really smart dude.

  16. Already built into the wing design. The winglets that you see on 737s or others are kind of a retrofit that aids in fuel consumption (some new aircraft have them too). Here's an article https://airlineworld.wordpress.com/tag/b787-dreamliner/ A couple of interesting satellite launches coming up this month. The first 10 (out of 70) Iridium sats get launched from Vandenburg on a Falcon 9. These are small, low bandwidth commsats but still nice to have some internet for sailing people. The other launch is a hughesnet Jupiter 2/Echostar 19 for satellite broadband customers (me). It's a big, heavy satellite at a high orbit so it requires a large launch vehicle.
  17. They're not going to do much about some perceived insult. China has been downplaying the incident anyway. What are they going to do, anyway? They've already stopped buying more of our debt. Their holdings of US Treasuries are at the lowest point since 2012. Japan and Saudi have sold also. 10 year Treasuries are sold at auction, so fewer buyers means that you have to offer a higher yield. A full point increase since the july low is the result. They're not going to do anything that threatens their $300 B trade surplus with the US. China knows there's a shitstorm coming, they've been buying thousands of tons of gold over the last decade (in addition to what they mine themselves as by far the world's largest gold producer), but they're not going to hasten that shitstorm through their own actions. Keep amassing assets for as long as possible. When the Fed first started monetizing our debt (purchasing Treasuries with money created out of thin air) in 2010, it oddly coincided with the launch of an SLBM from the other side of Catalina from the first of their new Jin-class submarines. Oh, but that missile launch was just a contrail from an approaching jetliner, some dude on here spent a lifetime arguing. Yeah, but just ignore the fact that the KCBS pilot who captured the launch on film would have seen the approaching jet in just a few minutes if that had been the case. Nice cover story, but the message was loud and clear. Trump means to negotiate better trade terms, maybe. Why allow an opponent to feel secure about his position right before a negotiation? That's fine, but China is a formidable adversary.
  18. Really easy. The gps/accelerometers keep it rock steady even on a windy day. I flew a $50 drone first and it was fun but very hard to control in any kind of wind. You probably won't crash but there's DJI insurance if you want it. I only crashed because I got overconfident and didn't take the time to learn the new app software. I think you'll like the mavic especially if you travel or have to take it somewhere to fly because of how portable it is.
  19. That's great stuff. I'm guessing that's with the Inspire. Do you use the Litchi app to control the video or something else? Also, do you have any experience using a VR headset so you can see what the drone sees in realtime?
  20. Burritos will be easy. Pizza would be a lot more difficult. In a decade or so houses will have delivery chutes instead of mail slots. Crazy video from a few years ago showing lots of drones not crashing into each other (or mountains)
  21. I crashed the drone on saturday. I was trying out a great 3rd part app called Litchi. It allows you to enter waypoints from a Google Earth like map and the drone will follow the course autonomously. You can control the altitude of each waypoint, where the camera points, how long it orbits etc. I ran a short test flight and everything went fine. I set the altitude of all the waypoints to 98 feet thinking that was plenty high enough to be above any trees. What I didn't realize (RTFM!) was that altitude setting is above your starting point, not the ground altitude of each individual waypoint. On the second flight I had the drone going over some extremely rugged area and around a couple of higher mountains. Predictably, once it reached 98 feet above the starting position it crashed into the mountain at full speed. Bad feeling waiting as the drone never came home. I quickly found the error and used the map program to trace the route to exactly where the drone reached 98 feet above the starting position. I entered the location into the gps and went on a long hike on sunday. Found it within 25 feet of where I thought it would be. One propeller damaged and the gimball shocks knocked loose and battery knocked out. Easy and cheap fix. Lucky. They build these things tough.
