Poll: 2 of 3 Brazilians think that the country will be worse off for hosting the Olympics.

“The party will be great,” a Brazilian economics professor told The Guardian last month, 100 days before the start of the games. “The legacy for the city will be garbage.”

Poll finds nearly 2 of 3 Brazilians think Olympics doing more harm than good

The popularity of the Games has dropped dramatically as Brazil weathers a two-year-long recession, and unemployment and inflation shoot up.

Everything's gone wrong in Rio leading up to the 2016 Olympics

This is truly an amazing timeline leading up to the Olympics.

well, that was rather bleak.

heard that one country (and maybe the US) is developing or has already made some kind of special protective suit for their boating athletes to wear that prevents them from coming into contact with the water.

No surprise, the same thing happened when they hosted the World Cup.

People were pissed at the poor living conditions, but ability to build a random stadium in the Amazon.

One of the doctors that I deal with has a Brazilian wife, and used to go there a few times a year. No more. He said it is like a third world country, with corruption, and crime at every level. They are afraid to go back, and are trying to get remaining family members into the US.

I told him to send them to Mexico, and they can just walk here, as long as they do it before 1/21/17.

IOC Orders 450,000 Condoms For Olympic Village

http://sports.cbslocal.com/2016/07/20/ioc-orders-450000-condoms-for-olympic-village/

the reason for the large number is that “female condoms are being given away for the first time.” With 10,500 athletes descending on Rio to participate in the games, that works out to just under 43 (42.85) condoms per athlete. The number breaks the previously reported record of 150,000 condoms that were provided for the 2012 London Olympic games.

What I get from these statistics is Brazilian chicks are three times hotter looking than the English.

Forgive me if this is a Craig.

Drivers in Rio are dealing with enormous traffic jams as "dedicated Olympic lanes" come into use on city highways. These are reserved for Olympic athletes and staff, and regular drivers get heavy fines and points on their licenses if they are caught in them.
