That isn't fact. That is AW fact. The issue once again wasn't the information it was how to get the information to the players.

While I agree with your premise (assuming I understand it correctly) that the reality is that we don't know what's going on behind the scenes, the reality is that every single one of the "sabre" sites routinely disagrees with the decisions made on the field by Scioscia and the Angels. Is it possible that the Angel analytics department has found statistical methodology that supports "Sosh ball?" Possibly. If so, however, it flies in the face of everything all of those publications have found.

That said, I believe I've seen you point out that Maddon does all of the same "anti-sabre" things, and that is 100% true.

Can't we just all agree that EVERY manager manages by feel and EVERY manager uses stats.

This is so true ... every manager/coach in any sport manages by feel during a game. The same goes with statistical analysis ... they all use it to formulate a game plan before and during games.

Whether you choose to believe it or not ... Mike has been using statistical analysis since the beginning of his tenure with the Angels.

Quick one of you smart guys put together both of their resumes leaving out opinion, just fact. So for 2014 it would look like this:

Scioscia led team to a 98 win season

Dipoto assembled team that won 98 games.

This year would have been harder it would be something like this:

Scioscia managed team to within 2 games of the playoffs despite having below average production from offensive and pitching

Jerry built a team that played above expectations until his untimely resignation

Hell if you wrote the most glowing record of both men it would be VERY difficult to look at Dipoto as being more successful than Mike.

Our team won 98 games DESPITE Scioscia.

He then over-managed, and stubbornly played Hamilton in the embarrassing post season games.

I'm having a hard time seeing the logic in this.  How does a team (any team) win 98 games despite what it's manager does?  Secondly, what was embarrassing about losing three games to the Royals?  Was it embarrassing for the Cardinals to lose the NLDS to the divisional third place Cubs this year, or was it embarrassing for the Cubs to get swept by the Mets without establishing any lead in a game?  I don't find anything embarrassing in any of those situations.  In all the cases cited, all of these teams achieved a great deal of success during the respective seasons.  I'm sorry, but I just don't agree with your logic here, but you are certainly entitled to believe what you want about these situations.  About the only time I would say I'm embarrassed for a team is when one of it's players, coaches, or executives commits some crime, does something morally reprehensible, or just obviously doesn't put in an effort when they could have done so.  I don't think that's the situation for any of the teams I've cited above.  I may be wrong, but I believe that your statements are more about not liking Mike Scioscia than about the specific situations cited, and you've exaggerated them to prove your underlying belief.

i always thought it would be kind of fun to do one of these roles.

bring in some legit mind power and technical skill to build up a powerhouse statistical analysis engine for the org.

but i highly doubt they pay very well for this kind of stuff.

This is proof that almost anyone who owns a computer dreams of having the biggest and the baddest hardware and software, but unless it gives you the stuff you want (in this case money) it's worthless.

A 286?     Those go back some 25+ years.

If anyone still uses one, they are getting totally hosed on lack of memory.

I had to use one at my first software job in the late 80s/early 90s.   Inevitably during testing, the screen would freeze at the same edit screen from lack of memory.
