This is so true ... every manager/coach in any sport manages by feel during a game. The same goes with statistical analysis ... they all use it to formulate a game plan before and during games.

Whether you choose to believe it or not ... Mike has been using statistical analysis since the beginning of his tenure with the Angels.

 

Guess what, he's been involved with computer science long before that:

This is proof that almost anyone who owns a computer dreams of having the biggest and the baddest hardware and software, but unless it gives you the stuff you want (in this case money) it's worthless.

it's not about biggest and baddest hardware/software.

its very easy to throw more computing power at things. 

the hard / interesting part is coming with groundbreaking solutions to very complex problems.

massive financial incentives are just one of the ways to help dictate which problems someone will focus their energy on.

 

besides everyone knows this is the biggest / baddest computers always come with steering wheels.
