i remember when he 1st came aboard angelswin. he's had health problems for so long. RIP and i wish his family well. chronic illness is very difficult to live with.

The "Big Man" was also well prepared and a pro at talk radio. He was the best at scooping the local media on Lakers, Angels and Dog news. He will be missed. RIP

I didn't agree with Joe much, but we had one thing in common, an enormous passion for sports. When I think of SoCal Sports talk, Joe McDonnell is the first person that comes to mind. RIP Joe.

I used to enjoy the McDonnell Douglas show on the radio. It always seemed Joe would get the last word call Doug an idiot.

He was 58. He once weighed more than 700 pounds. One hopes his passing will inspire other men who have challenges with weight or other risk factors for early death to take action now to live a longer, healthier life whilst one is on this pale blue dot in the vast expanse of space.

You told it like it is, and on top of that were able to lose some 300-400 lbs a few years back to give yourself a chance at normal living.

I remember when Chuck told me that Joe wanted to start writing for our site.  I was completely blown away.  I felt like we had just signed Mike Trout.  

 

Had a toast for him last night at the Fanfest.  (In which I got choked up and mispronounced his name.  Ugh.)  He will be missed.

McDonald Douglas was the best sport talk show on radio ever. Those 2 were hilarious, such different personalities but it was very entertaining. I didn't agree with much with Joe opinions, but the opionions I did agree with, I had respect for, because he pulled no punches agreement or not.  I remember Floyd Maywether jr called in on a car phone and he was being a jerk, and big Joe went back at him and then hung up lol
