I like him on a 1-2 year deal, no more than 5M per.

He doesn't walk anyone, very solid WHIP, fly ball pitcher.  I say yes.  Not as our big SP acquisition, but as a secondary move.

Probably unfair to him, because he had a decent year this year, but that signing would have a very "Blantonesque" feel to it....

If we pay him like a 4.19 ERA/1.29 WHIP pitcher.  Than sure.

 

If we pay him like a 3.79 ERA/1.15 WHIP pitcher from the NL.  Then pass.  

 

I'd go about 2/$20 on him.  Don't want to go 3 since he's already 36.

I agree, but with that many teams interested this early, he'll probably get a lot bigger contract than that.

I mean, if the idea is to sign Vargas AND Arroyo then trade for a number 3 then I guess I'd be fine with it but I don't think that is the plan. Arroyo is either a replacement for Vargas or, god-forbid, a "number 3" starter in the Angels' eyes.

No thanks. Not that good and will get overpriced. IF he comes to the AL he'll put put up a mid 4 ERA and you'd likely be paying $10-12 mill a year for it.

 

Really hope the Halos don't screw up again and sign this guy

Not likely he sign for anywhere near that cheap.  That's basically Joe Saunders money last year.

I agree..  Hudson was the lone 35+ guy I would have considered that seemed remotely available.   Arroyo deserves some props for posting some decent peripherals despite pitching his home games in a launching pad but I'd be worried he would crater returning to the AL.

With Hudson signing for roughly 12 million, you can bet Arroyo is going to get around 10 million per season.

 

If we are going to spend around 10 million a year on a pitcher, I'd prefer it be Vargas.
