I choose to be cautiously optimistic. If his health really has improved--a year further recovered from surgery and lack of pain in his feet, then I have some confidence he can return to being a reliable hitter and threat. He was too good before to not still have potential now.

Josh Hamilton swings the bat well, too. Powerful swings. So does practically every major-leaguer.

 

The true test is connecting with the baseball and putting it in play safely. Like AO, I'll wait to see if he can produce an .850-.900 OPS. That will impress me.
