Fun to read through this discussion. For me, I'm not really much of a stats guy and rely more on my memories and how I felt, which I know drives some of y'all crazy. But from that perspective, it's Weave, any day. I can't separate performance and person with objectivity. I'll always appreciate Lackey in the world series along with Krod. Little was more enjoyable for me than watching dominant Krod throw that slider of his, and watching hitters flail away at it. But Weave was the organization for a time. And watching him deal with the loss of Adenhart helped me understand what a loss it was. And every time he pitched, I felt like there was one team on the field rather than 9 players. Intangibles don't really matter to stats and are always what is so hard to qualify, but those matter to fans, and that's what I am, so between the two for me, it's Weave.

Well I will say this, I'd take Erstad at first base and Anderson in left field for this season.

Bollinger has a top five homegrown players article. He gives his top five that were drafted by the club and then played for them. I like the top five overall but wonder about his #4. He has Erstad, and it's hard to overlook Erstad's defense and his couple of really good years. But he neglects Garret Anderson. I think it's a tough call. Weave as #5 makes sense so that you have two pitchers-Finley and Weave. So I'm curious to what others think for #4 Erstad and his gold gloves and one phenomenal season or Anderson's stead contributions over his career. According to Wikipedia, "He holds Angels franchise records for career games played (2,013), at bats (7,989), hits (2,368), runs scored (1,024), runs batted in (RBI) (1,292), total bases (3,743), extra base hits (796), singles (1,572), doubles (489), grand slams (8), RBI in a single game (10) and consecutive games with an RBI (12)" That's pretty impressive. I guess it's like asking which child you like most. Maybe it needed to be a tie and have six actual listed.

That may be true, but he's still an Angel (at least for now) in the mold of Erstad or Salmon or Anderson, a homegrown that I love to see play and who gives what he's got to the team.

I think Burnett, right? But it's not just the Tommy John, it's the unusual injuries, like Richards running to first or Shoe getting hit in the head.

I honestly don't know of a team with as many freak injuries or ongoing attrition to a pitching staff. From Brendan Donnelly getting hit in the face in spring training to Colon and Escobar's chronic injuries, to the late Nick Adenhart, to Garret Richard's freak injury, to the rash of Tommy John-itis, to Shoe getting hit. I'm thinking the Angels just can't have consistently healthy pitchers. Every team has injuries, but this has become freaky. And there are many more I haven't listed. Maybe it's the curse of Donnie Moore.

I guess I'm in the minority, but I'm actually happy to hear this about Pujols and am optimistic he can have as good of a season as last year, which would make me very happy.

That's is something, indeed. When Trout gets to 30, assuming he does, that would mean 4 former Angels' prospects hitting 30+ this season. Of the formers, I actually have the most regrets about Morales and often wonder what might have been but for the broken leg after the walkoff.

Yeah, he's a beast. What this also shows is just how special Trout really is, how consistently good he is, and also what a great teammate and human being he is. He's a rarity. If it were basketball he'd have to be a Spur.
