Angels Official Website: 'In good shape,' Pujols starts swinging bat

Recommended Posts

I try and be as realistic as possible. So I can understand everyone rolling their eyes at this article.

That said, I'm willing to give pujols a break on his 2013. He didn't have some ghost injury, he had a real one, one that isn't uncommon.

Of course we won't see vintage pujols ever put on an angel uniform. But I strongly believe a healthy pujols can still be a top producer. His career (imo) is enough to give him another chance.

I see no reason he can't continue to be a plus bat into his later 30's like ortiz, thome, guys like that.

Sure, he could be done. But I'd say he's earned the chance to get the benefit if his foot is healed.

I'll definitely give him the benefit of the doubt these last two years. In 2012 he got off to a horrible start, but finished the season very strong and looked like vintage Pujols for a couple months there. In 2013 he started off strong but then the foot started bothering him and he dropped off.

Assuming his foot is healed, I expect a good season in 2014. If not, we're f**ked.

Agreed. If we get even 80 percent of 2012 pujols (the may-september version), with trout, that's two very good moto hitters. If hamilton were to then bat .270/.350/.480, we'd have a very solid offense.

Its closer to reality than I think a lot of people want to admit. But to be fair, after 2013 its understandable to expect doom.
