tom petty is about the last singer i'd want to see in concert, just barely above yoko ono and william hung.

I've always said that Tom Petty sounds like he is straining on the shitter, and having a hard time at the task. Next time you hear him on the radio, think about it. Runnin down a dream, free fallin...and I wont back down...

That said, I've seen him live a couple/few times and it's damn fun "drinkin beer and gettin high" stuff...much better live, as many are. George Thorogood  comes to mind, as another of the same level/genre, tho I prefer Thorogood. I also saw Petty when he was on tour with Dylan and that was pretty good.

Stevie "Guitar" Miller was, and still is by far, my favorite when it comes to that style.

Justified -> Dave Alvin -> Blasters -> X

I've seen Dave Alvin play acoustic shows twice the last few months. Once at the guitar store in downtown Claremont and once at McCabes in Santa Monica. Both shows were absofuckinglutely fantastic. If you ever get a chance to see him play live, do so.

Amazon feed tied in to Man in the High Castle alternative universe. Some interesting remakes of old songs.

Please note...because apparently some Trumpkins got a little upset...this is not a real radio station.

war of the worlds, part 2?

i started watching Man in the High Castle and have enjoyed it so far. I'll start paying a bit more attention to the music knowing there's now a station that plays it. thnx.

Yes is just now being inducted...? Obviously I don't follow these things.

Great photo though, of the early band members with Bill Bruford. This lineup recorded "Fragile" and "Close to the Edge" probably their greatest albums.

Bruford left the band in 1972 and his replacement Alan White was great for many years and subsequent albums. Chris Squire passed a couple of years ago, RIP.

The old photo is why I posted it. LOOK how young they were. Jon Anderson looks like a teenager, and Steve Howe still has a full head of hair.

My guess would be 1969 or 70

I'm really enjoying this record. It sounds like old school ST and makes me want to buy a skateboard again. Dave Lombardo on the drums was an excellent choice for them

Growing up I listened to a few ST songs. All I wanted was a Pepsi and she wouldn't give it to me.

In 1972 when they recorded Close to the Edge, Anderson was the old man at age 28. The other band members were aged 23-25. Unbelievable how talented and accomplished they were as musicians at that young age.

Saw The Pixies last night at HOB Anaheim. Always wanted to see them, finally did. Words cannot describe how great the show was. They played for 1:40 and then played one song as an encore.

Pixies are playing a couple more shows up in L.A. this week. Try to catch them if you can.
