It might be worth accepting the possibility that the Angels aren't acquiring any more starters. Not only have they spent most of their wad already, but still could use with a middle infielder and possibly a catcher and reliever or two.

When was this idea changed? Even when they were rumored in on Scherzer and Ray, they have always said they want Iglesias back. Nothing has changed. They still want another starter.

Totally reasonable deal for Iglesias.

A little bit of an overpay, maybe by 3 million per year, but not bad. An elite reliever like him isn't cheap, and it was a necessary expenditure. 

Depending on how they structure the contract, it looks like the Angels payroll is now sitting around 172 million (assuming Iglesias'salary is even across the board). 

They've gone to 190 before and likely even may go to 200, as long as it's under the luxury tax, which it is. 

I don't see any reason why they can't afford Marcus Stroman and a backup catcher and stay under 200 million.

Unless I'm wrong I believe Iglesias, Loup, Lorenzen, and Syndergaard add to about 49.75 in payroll for next season, almost exactly 50.
