"The legend of Jacob deGrom continued to grow Saturday in San Diego.

The New York Mets ace flummoxed the Padres for seven brilliant innings at Petco Park, striking out 11 and allowing only three hits on 85 pitches. DeGrom's shutout outing lowered his ERA to a sparkling 0.62, a new record for the lowest ERA through a pitcher's first nine starts of a season, according to Sarah Langs of MLB.com. His 0.57 WHIP is also the lowest over the first nine starts of a campaign since 1901."

He's f'n ridiculous.

his trajectory is nuts.  He had a 4.51 era in the minors at age 25 and then instantly became the most dominant pitcher in baseball.  He's got 93 k and 8 walks in 58ip this year.  His run is Koufax like relative to the time only with a shift from 26 to 30 for Sandy to 27 to 33 for Jake.

I think if he does this for a couple more years he could be a HOFer regardless of his late start.

Jesse Winker (he’s on the reds for those unfamiliar) has 3 home runs today and is hitting .350/.412/.665 this season with 17 home runs in 200 at bats

Were they meaningful?

Speaking of the Reds, what is up with Luis Castillo?

12 starts, under 5 inn/start, 6.63 ERA, 1.66 WHIP
