This is dumb.

got changing "Redskins" (although it was one of the best team names in sports), but this is setting a really gay precedent

Agreed. There will be no end to this. If the SJWs get their way, eventually everything will be regarded as offensive. Orwell tried to warn us.

i have spent countless hours on a reservation. my daughter is a tribal member. you have no fucking idea what you are talking about. life on the res, pre-casinos, was an abomination. you really need to not have such a loud opinion on something you know nothing about.

i know indians who could have a house built for them at zero cost on the reservation and do not take that opportunity because living on the res is so negative. things have changed considerably because of casinos, sometimes for the better and sometimes only to exacerbate larger issues.

It’s a beautiful day at The Red Pony. How may I help you?

i had to look it up. i've only seen the first few episodes of longmire. i'm assuming this is lou diamond that says this.

i don't know enough about the show to understand the context here.

You were talking about the Res and I recently finished watching Longmire so thought I’d just drop it in. Has nothing to do with anything else.

the first episode played a nice trick that i liked. showing this broken down old sheriff with a bunch of beer cans in the cab of his truck was leaving me with a real tired trope feeling, but then they show that he's picking up trash along the way and his broken down demeanor is revealed to be for an entirely different and significant reason. i thought that was good tv. i stopped watching after probably like five episodes, not because it was bad, but i just don't watch a lot of tv.

You guys would probably enjoy reading the series by C.J. Box about a Wyoming game warden named Joe Pickett.  Box's story telling moves you along at a nice pace and is entertaining.

Go Pikers!!

I heard they don’t use real doctors to play doctors sometimes too.  Insane.

just so dumb.

think of gilligan's island.

was it racist having a white man play the professor? no, because the professor can be any race.

was it racist having white men in red makeup play indians? yes, it was a sign of the times. why pay an indian actor to play an indian part, when we would rather pay a white man in red makeup. he can say stuff like, " how...is it going?" sooo funny.

I see you you view everything related to race as racist.  I consider this syndrome a sunk cost.  Most people don’t recover from this, mostly because it just feels too righteous to give up.  So I will just let you live in it and leave you alone.

actually, no i don't. and just about everybody that knows me would say that i am the most non-pc person they know, and i think it's by a wide measure. but you keep pretending that things that are specifically about race are not, and that's nothing but a bury your head in the sand viewpoint, and i don't know how anybody can see much of anything with their head buried in the sand.

i'd love for you to make a good point or thoughtful comment. i'm totally open to an interesting argument, but you just keep doing that thing you do where you make a simpleton comment and show an extremely limited education on this and yet you know everything you desire to know.

one of the things i like to ask people when their viewpoints are crystalized against new information is, so you've done all your learning then?

so what does everyone think?

has this thread run it's course to an inevitable conclusion as of yet?

I think so.  I am simply not intellectually equipped to argue the ongoing historical impact of the casting decisions on Giligans Island.  But I’m sure there is probably a statue somewhere that we should tear down (depending on the color of the horse?).

Not sure.  Let’s ask the expert.
