I gotta agree with some of y'all. There's just no way this country could have done better. Our testing and tracing couldn't have been better and we definitely couldn't have had more consistent messaging from officials. There's no way that things could have been more coordinated in response to the virus. 'Twas fait accompli.

Yeah, I read the sarcasm but there is a point about sociology of the American way of life and government intrusion. Whatever steps that are taken didn't happen as a iron fist mandate like some of the other more government controlled countries.

In every state, California included, where there were stict mandates put in place there was plenty of push back. There still is even if science says that social distancing, wearing masks, staying out of populated areas whether it be shopping or transportation, that is the only path to infection avoidence.

I guess fate was written into our societal DNA. Whatever clumsiness was added by intial misshandling still doesn't erase that code.

You and your testing bullshit. You do realize that the production of testing equipment takes longer than two nanoseconds right? Apparently on planet Fishbulb everything is free and comes immediately.

The United States greatly exceeds any other country on the planet when it comes to testing. Quit regurgitating the same nonsense over and over.

I am sure the population of those other countries equal that of the US in per person reslts. Like Equador that has about the population of Los Angeles but nearly 30 times the land mass. South Korea seems to have tested nearly half of their population. The US only about 1/6th.

When this virus first made it's way over here it was at the same time the impeachment was going on. Can you imagine the what the left's and the media's reaction would have been if Trump had shut everything down and focused 100% on the virus during that time?

The larger the country, the longer it's going to take to produce, distribute and conduct the tests. We do have a much higher volume of tests going and that is a good thing, especially with a virus that was brand new that we knew little about. Developing an accurate test for a virus isn't an easy and quick task either.

Covid-19 news: Germany joins Spain in worrying surge of infections.

Germany and Spain among a growing list of western European countries where coronavirus cases are surging

Coronavirus cases are rising in Germany, Spain and other countries in western Europe, with Spain recording 1418 new infections on Tuesday, and Germany detecting 1200 cases in the last 24 hours, the country’s biggest daily increase for three months.

Yeah, they've got this shit totally under control.

Germany has 2600 cases per 1m pop, France has 3100 per 1m pop. The US has 16,000 cases per 1m pop.

I'm pretty sure they are doing a better job than the US.

I adjusted the chart to show deaths per 1m pop. Sorry it doesn't fit Jars' narrative.

That's a stupid stat to go by because it goes by factors that you can't control like pre-existing conditions and age of population. And mortality rate is much higher with people that have those conditions.

Like Italy for instance has a much older population so their deaths per 1m is very high as a result. San Marino is completely enclosed by Italy and had the same problem.

Cases per 1m pop is better at showing the competence/incompetence of leadership.

So on one side we have those that think it's a hoax and the other that thinks the president controls what the virus does. We deserve this as a country

100% agree with this.

These fucking keyboard warriors and their shit talking or put downs need to be addressed. Someone hides behind a keyboard and feels like they can say what they want. You talk shit in my day you got repercussions. Now it's freedom of speech and all sorts of bullshit.....to the point they even call you out as a goon because you can articulate a point but didn't go to the same school and learn Microsoft Point. With VPN's people will be ahead of the curve, but I wish people that said foul shit or talked tough on the internet got a visit.

If I punch someone in the jaw I'm sure they won't have the bravado to say it to more people. I don't advocate violence and am usually the diffuser. I messed up some people wrestling and have seen shit where some dude punches a dude in a bar and he hits his head on the bar as he goes down and it's manslaughter with 20 years because the other dude was drunk and provoked a response. But I do think people need to get their ass kicked....and not in that dumb jock or bro-is way.

Really does benefit society when people learn these lessons early in life. An ass whipping at 12 is less severe than a grown man fight. Same principle works at home. Damn near every kid on Ritalin is a product of a non whipping household.

Since you just brush 200k lives lost just like that willy nilly, I’ll try to put that in context you may sympathize with better. What if Mexican illegals were killing 1000 people a day? What if rioters were killing 1000 cops a night? What if Al-Qaeda were committing 1 9/11 every 3 days? What if Kim Jong-un nuked us and killed 200k? What if 1000 troops were dying over seas daily? Would you just blow that off as it being only 0.06% of the population all willy nilly like that?

What if liberals supported killing 3000 babies daily since the 1970s

New Zealand coronavirus: 14 new Covid-19 cases reported

Brazilian chicken wings tested positive for coronavirus in China

That's the thing with the Rona.  Unless you go total isolationism, it's going to get in no matter what you do.  And I can't think of one country that can survive isolationism for an extended period of time.

Exactly

How often has America needed to be isolated for such a long time?    This is uncharted territory, and one can't blame people for being totally frustrated with it.

Exactly.  And in South Korea's case.  I wonder how Americans would feel if the government was allowed to have access to phone tracking data, credit card purchasing data, all cctv, etc.  All without a warrant.  I don't think they would be as compliant as in South Korea, and their contact tracing.  Heck, it would just be funny to see the Karen libs heads spin when the US says they are closing the borders to everyone.

Look at how they reacted when Trump banned travel from China into the USA at the end of January.
