Beyond Grateful by Josh Hamilton

Recommended Posts

Not liking a player and “laughing if they died” are two very different things. I’m ok with not liking him. He screwed over the Angels with his poor decision, but that’s exactly what addicts do. I can’t tell you how many times my own brother has done something to screw with the family when he relapses. Then he goes to prison/rehab and is good for a little while again. Deep down he’s a good person and we see that when he’s healthy and off drugs. I don’t like Josh Hamilton, but I’m not going to sit here and wish any ill will on the man

I always wondered if he actually did relapse at all or if the entire thing was just a manipulation to try and get off the Angels or hang up his spikes altogether while still getting paid to do so.

The one thing I had an issue with was how the Angels tried to cover it all up by saying that he was rehabbing from his shoulder injury in Houston (at his buddy’s house) the same way he would’ve in Arizona so he was excused from reporting to spring training that would’ve forced him to be under the watchful eyes of Angels trainers and doctors. They should’ve demanded that he showed up to Arizona. That was probably a breach of contract. They let Josh call the shots and by doing so they let him off the hook.

He did. My friend saw him doing stuff at a club right at the beginning of his downfall that would have gotten him in a lot of trouble.

I have no idea, but right towards the end of the 2014 season, he started acting pretty cokey

I finally let go, and no longer call him Hackilton.    Like with Wells, it was a total disaster during Hamilton's time here, aside from his HR in extra innings winning that one game vs the Astros on AW tailgate night in 2013.

It is a sad story when someone no longer holds himself accountable.

I do wonder if his downfall started after WS game 6 in 2011.   His 10th inning HR would have won the WS, except for shoddy Rangers relief pitching in the 10th and 11th innings.

Did the WS loss, after being an almost certain WS title on two occasions late in game 6, start the spinning out of control for him?
