I suspected something was wrong with him. He was only throwing 91 mph last start and he usually throws 96-97 mph.

But I agree with others, it's time to move on with him. Maybe make him a long inning reliever.

I don't think Heaney throws 96-97.  More closer to 93-95 tops when healthy.

Is his body just not geared to withstand the rigors of MLB pitching?   Or did the Halos do him a disfavor by pitching him for 180 innings a year ago after missing most of the previous two seasons?

he was a free agent 4 years ago and we've had a chance to bring him back 3 times.

Yep...

Offense is not the problem for this team so, yeah, you make the trade of a 31 year old,  'meh' defensive 2B with 1 year left under contract for a young, top rated lefty starter with 6 years of control.  You make that deal every time.

???  the fastest pitch Heaney has thrown is 96 mph.  His avg. fastball velo in 2014 was 91.2, in 2015 - 92 mph, 2016 - 91.2 mph, 2017 - 92.2 mph, 2018 - 92.5 mph, and this year 92.7 mph.

he was 92.2 in his last start avg.

this could merely be dead arm.  your perception of what he is can't be further off.  If he normally threw 96+ from the left side he'd be a #1 starter candidate and we'd be begging for him to come back.

I'm not moving on from him until I hear that this injury is career threatening.
