Calm down, there will always be ebs and flows to a season. For instance, the Orioles won't be winning the East and the Mariners won't be able to sustain their hot start. Give it a little time to balance out, first 2 weeks of the season are always pretty wonky.

From last year

Angels 7-3

TB 1-8

Tor 6-4

Oak 4-7

NYM 7-1

Pit 7-2

LAD 3-6

Ausmus should hold his first whipass team meeting.

Under similar circumstances Scioscia would host a team pancake social.

I don’t think you know how Scioscia manages, then. Scioscia is a hard ass. He’s the epitome of no fun allowed

Let me guess...one game at a time, it’s a long season, we’ve got a bunch of guys out there grinding trying to figure some things out...sound familiar?  New season, new manager.  1-5 is not the way to start out.  The last time the Angels won a post season game was almost a decade ago now - will be a decade in October.  Considering the payroll this team has carried the past 10 years, this team and ownership does not deserve an ounce of patience from it’s fan base.  The Angels have been the poster child for underachievement for the better part of 10 years.  I’m not saying Ausmus should be throwing fits and benching players.  Where is the John Lackey and Jered Weaver fire from anyone on this team?  They have such a ho-hum & oh-well attitude when it comes to losing - probably because they’re so used to it.  This team has lacked a team leader for a long time and needs one in the worst way.

The only accurate thing on here is whether or not fans should be patient with this team.  They didn’t underachieve they spent the money on the wrong guys early on, then the money was spent and so there wasn’t a lot of money to spend once the money was spent.  Then Dipoto came in and ruined everything as it relates to the ability to build a consistent winner.  If you think they have a ho hum attitude to wining or losing that is because you are a fan and you are looking for an easy answer to the problem.  They don’t need a team leader, they need to hit.

No manager..... none.... would start screaming and flipping tables over losing 5 of 6.

They’re playing hard. Some guys - the pitchers - are doing well. They have lost 2 1-run games.

I’m not saying they’re going to win the World Series  I’m saying that whatever you thought of them on opening day should not have changed based on 6 games.

They were an 84-85 win team before the Heaney-Upton injuries so now they’re an 82-84 win team probably.

I don't expect Ausmus to flip a table.  I don't expect any players-only meetings.  I don't expect this team to be this bad.  I don't expect any veteran to light a fire under the team.

And in return I don't expect anyone to criticize the fans for 1). saying 1-5 absolutely sucks and 2). saying the product on the field shown so far (yes in a small sample) is pathetic, uninspiring, and woefully boring.

The good news is there is no place to go but up, and we can probably count on at least 75 more wins.  Yippee!

This has been absolutely miserable with no fix in sight until Ohtani/Upton come back

Ohtani/Upton not being here are not the problem, thats  an excuse.  Sure it will be better with them but we still need the other guys to hit.
We have 2 guys right now with an OPS over 700 (Trout/Lucroy) and those 2 plus one more hitting over 250.  All these tollsy OBP guys are not getting on base.
Statistically right now we look worse than our record.

They not being here are not an excuse, that is a huge part of the problem.  But the rest is true.

Dont get me wrong, they will help of course, but if the rest of the supporting cast doesn't do better the difference will be marginal and wont affect the standings much.

The point is they take the team from a 93 loss team to an 85 loss team right now. It's tough to imagine a scenario where them coming back puts us in a position to contend for the wild card right now. Not with Cozart and La Stella taking at bats regularly. And Bour/Pujols

Yes, the team will get better when they come back

So we will ignore LaStella’s OBP for his career because of 6 games.  I have no idea if Bour is done or not, but last year he had a .340 OBP and a .750 OPS or a 111 OPS+.  This is being blown way out of proportion because its the beginning of the season.  I mean if you have to go all the way back to 2018 to see solid major league performance I mean what should we really expect.

No, I think they'll return to their career averages, but their career averages (And for Pujols his averages from the last 2 seasons) are too close to replacement level to make things significantly improve.

If they are getting on base and or slugging much better than we have seen, plus the addition of Upton and Ohtani, the offense will be around league average.  Is that enough, probably not.
