Pujols is well aware of his image and his legacy and has gone to great lengths to live up to and preserve both. He's as good of a man as there is. But I don't think he's going to allow his career batting average to slip below .300. He will retire before that happens. And that's part of the reason why I believe 2019 will be his final year. Beginning in June or July, the farewell tour will commence.

I just saw a picture of him the other day - dude looks like he’s lost 40lbs. I’ll bet he plays 150 games at 1B this year.

Parody aside, even if he did lose 20-30 lbs, the feet and knees are already likely toast from 18 MLB seasons of constant crouching at the plate.

I have said this before. . .

It doesn't matter if Pujols is 39 or 45.  39 is old enough to be too old.  Either way, he is too old.

So what's the difference at this point?
