I hope Jerry fully recovers from the underlying cause of the blood clots in his lungs and it's not a long-term serious problem.

It's good he got a draft pick, no doubt the high floor low ceiling college player they bring in will make for a fine RP ... But after the money was exchanged and players were sorted out they acquired the older player who will cost them 25 mil this year for the younger player costing 35 mil over two years.... 

They likely move Encarnacion now, but who needs a 20 mil DH...  Not the Yankees, not the Red Sox....

Rays, Twins, Astros, Rockies could use him at 1B if they really want some more offense ..... someone will sign Cruz but not all of them can.

Rays, Twins aren't known for spending 20 mil on players -- much less ones that contribute nothing on defense.   One of those teams waived CJ Cron to avoid paying him 5 mil, the other picked him up.  CJ Cron -- 123 OPS+, Encarnacion -- 115 OPS+.    Rays also still have Ji-Man Choi who put up a 141 OPS+.   

Encarnacion has played less than 50 games at 1B the last two years, and put up a dWAR of -2.6 over that span -- the Astros don't strike me as the sort of team that would willfully take on a 25 mil, for a DH when they have Tyler White, Kyle Tucker, Derek Fisher and Tony Kemp all on the roster and looking for at bats.    Maybe the Rocks would be willing to take that contract on in exchance for Ian Desmond.

Im sure if JD is willing to eat more money or attach other players teams will listen but -- the dude isn't that attractive at his current salary...
