That's why Albert will NEVER walk away from his contract.  He'll always take the position that he's always a little rest, one more surgery, or one DL stint away from regaining the glory days.

You're going to hear that for 8 1/2 more seasons

Worst contract in the history of professional sport. There really isn't a close 2nd.

He's simply terrible right now. The 2013 team might be better off DLing Boohols the rest of the year and finding some AAAA guy to take his PAs

Efren Navarro can finally fulfill his destiny to become James Loney Lite.

Carl Pavano, Jason Schmidt, and Mike Hampton would like a word with you.

Since April 22 (26 games)

.206/.241/.383

5 HR, 14 RBI

6 BB, 19 SO

Home run and RBI numbers not too bad, average and OBP very bad.

Fielder had also played sigificantly fewer games than Pujols by December 2011, and is also some 3-4 years younger.

Plus, he had the much needed lefty power bat that we ended up using the money on a nearly washed up Hamilton a year later.

If St.L. hadn't won the 2011 WS, would Fielder have been signed instead of Pujols?

Would Pujols have been as desired by Moreno?

None of the previously mentioned players (Schmidt, Brown, Driefort, Pavano, and Hampton) got anywheres near the contract that Ghost Pujols got.

Boohols' contract is, without a doubt, worse than any of these. Even if insurance helped cover much of Hampton's contract Boohols was given 2x Hampton'a contract.

You're not considering era and inflation. Those arguments are always lame....like someone arguing these contracts to Ted Williams or Babe Ruth.

At the same time, most of these contract lops are posting just over a year into the deal while guys like previous contracts mentioned have empirical stats backing up their contracts. The Pujols deal is expected to not live up to the money on the field, and has already made a dent that the other players mentioned haven't off the field. Can you at least wait until a majority of his.contract plays out before making assumptions?

Maybe you can come up with more immature nicknames for guys on the team.
