Yup. It’s a two-year, $24MM contract for Murphy, Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports tweets.

He's no Justin Bour but teams like the Rockies can't afford to be spending too much money.

so what you're saying is that it's not a bad deal for a guy who was 1 win worse than David Fletcher last year?

Dude was a negative 0.9 at bbref.com, wonder if he's going to be their 1b and Desmond moves to 2b ... No question Murphy is the better hitter, may be worth it to keep him healthy.   Man Ian Desmond has really floundered in CO.

Desmond has always been a streaky hitter. So far in Colorado, he's been a combination of injured and not in the lineup long enough to sustain a hot streak that buoys his overall numbers the way Upton does.

Given how much they've invested in both Desmond and Murphy, both will be in the lineup. Dahl and Blackmon will be in the OF, so Desmond will probably log time in the OF and at 2B. Murphy will likely play 1B mostly with the occasional appearance at 2B. The Rockies really have a specific distrust of their prospects, which ends up hurting them in the long run. Ryan McMahon wasn't ready last year, but you have to figure he will be at some point this year, but when that happens, he'll probably be trapped hitting .400 in AAA for weeks at a time. Same thing with Brendan Rodgers. Same with RaimelTapia, same with Garrett Hampson, same with Mike Tauchmann. I think they've already taken any confidence Tom Murphy had in his game.

Good call, gotta figure they give Hampson first crack at 2b if they are moving Murphy to 1b...

Yahoo’s Jeff Passan reports that the two sides are close to a multi-year deal with Andrew Miller(Twitter links). Miller, according to Passan, has received multiple two-year offers but has been seeking a three-year deal. It’s not yet clear whether the Cards went to three years or made a sizable increase to the value of a two-year offer. USA Today’s Bob Nightengale tweets that the Cardinals could announce a deal with Miller as soon as tomorrow.

Interesting Anibal Sanchez got 2/19. With deals like that, and Lance Lynn's and Pat Corbin's, it really does look like the Angels dodged some bullets with the one year deals. Granted they come at a higher than normal AAV, but they put the organization in a better position late on with more money to spend elsewhere and with prospects further along.

And I think something that's been largely ignored with Cahill, is that if for some reason he's injured, or someone like Canning or Suarez leapfrogs him in the rotation, he's already shown he could be a highly effective shutdown reliever. I can see a situation coming about where Cahill goes on the shelf in July and Canning comes in and lights the world on fire, and come August/September, Cahill moves into a bullpen role.

Jon Heyman of Fancred Sports reports that Miguel Andujar is available in trade for the right price.

It's not the first time we've heard Andujar's name available, with Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic noting that the Yankees were open to moving the infielder earlier in December. Whether or not Andujar is dealt might depend on whether or not the Yankees are able to sign Manny Machado, but it's also possible that the 23-year-old could be moved over to first base if the Yankees do lock in Machado to man the hot corner -- or even if he plays shortstop. With a .297/.328/.527 line and 27 homers over 149 games last year, you'd have to think the Yankees would get something substantial if he is dealt.

Yea, I would love the bat, but we have a DH.  They will get a really good haul for him.  I’d give up Skaggs for him and sign another arm.
