overconsumption, especially by the rich, say the scientists

Somehow I can't see how less than 2% of the world's population can be the over consumption part of the formula. This sounds more like a power play to socialize more industries and make them government controlled.

China set the date of 2030 to elimate the sale of gasoline vehicles. Part of the global climate change iniative is also reduce the quantity of farm animal production and make meat proteins less than 10% of any diet. The emphasis would be to change to a reweable plant source diet for the world so bye bye bacon. Also required is reforestation to battle the existing carbon footprint and eliminating coal production completely for an energy source.

That's a whole lot of social reinventing to pull off in 12 years. They are never going to force all of that down the industrial nations throats.

get with the program, sheeple!

doing my part since 1960.

You'd really think that scientists should have been advocating for changes for decades now. They just haven't been.

My complaint about this issue is that how the hades will more taxes help it?  This seems unrelated.

The really sad part about all this is that we act like our own little corner of the world will change it when were not the largest reason.  Many other nations such as China, even Mexico, put out far more greeenhouse gasses.   Unless its a global initiative, it means nothing really.

Lets be honest be dont manufacture anymore, weve off shored it all to places without regulation.   Untill we force our corporations to either come back to the US or follow our laws even when abroad, its meaningless.

The United States is a massive emitter of green house gases.

So actually, our corner (large corner)  of the world does matter. We’re the 2nd largest emitter.  This idea that the US isn’t the only problem and therefore nothing should be done is horseshit.

What’s “sad” is that people think that way.  The US has massive global pull.  If we change, we can work towards forcing others to change.  The Chinese government at least has goals on this topic.  Half of our government leaders pretend the problem doesn’t exist.

The Europeans are doing a lot on this, if the US matches their efforts significant positive impact would be made.

Already seeing what look like mass extinction events.  It’s happening faster the you think Lou.

You're right that the most violent changes probably won’t impact your life much if you’re in your 70’s now.  But as I’ve said.  The callous indifference some of you are talking about is pretty unfortunate.  Who knows if you’re serious or not.

I’m assuming you take public transportation or ride your bicycle

Imagine how much you could help by not using electronics that use resources to keep them charged for unnecessary reasons like posting how we are not finding solutions.
