The #Angels will need to make a 40-man roster move tomorrow. The 2 new pitchers go on the 40, and Kinsler only clears one spot. Could be interesting. (Or maybe not.)

Kinsler was 36. It is nice to see the Angels do a backwards trade for a change.

Maldonado is 31, the same trade situation where the Angels flipped a veteran on the end of his contract for prospects.

The only way someone doesn't like this trade is if they just really enjoy watching Kinsler suit up and play for the Angels 6 times a week. There is no other reason why they should have kept him.

" If the Angels do move Fletcher to second, they could use some combination of Cowart, Luis Valbuena or Jefry Marte at third."

Fuck. I didn't think of that. Valbuena just moved back up a notch on the depth chart.

Or they could bring Fernandez back up (he is 30, not a kid) and play him at 1b (if that's where they like him--it's where he played earlier).....Play Fernandez at 1b and DFA either Marte or Valbuena, probably Marte more likely....

That out of the way, K rates are good, but both walk too many guys and have blah WHIPs and are 25 and 26 years old. Sometimes relievers take a bit based on conversion to relief as failed starters, so doesn't mean they can't be good. But until we see that improvement, what part of lots of reliever walks and men on base are we stoked about? 

I hope I'm missing something, and again am glad to give our MI prospects a shot. Please just help me understand the optimism for the prospects received. Thanks!

Sadly, that's what it's come down to with this team.

But you do what you have to do. Eppler is thinking ahead and planning for all contingencies.

I would be surprised if it's not Valbuena at 3b and Fletcher at 2b.....assuming it's a RHP we are facing...
