Pujols' 2017 OPS

It's a safe bet that this will be the first year in Pujols' illustrious career that his OPS will not be at least be considered "good", using Bill James' OPS scale. Him even hitting the .700 mark by the end of the season would be consider a miracle at this point. At a miserable .651 now after last night's win against Oakland. He can always bounce back next year and post an OPS in about the .767-.790 range.

I'm sorry, but there is no way in hell the dude is putting this up. He is done. He is awful. He is one of the worst hitters in baseball and the trends aren't looking up.

Even if they did get rid of Pujols in the last year or so in his contract he probably signs a 1 year deal with the Athletics & has a .850 OPS just because he put their hat on like how Kazmir suddenly became good again that one year with the A's or when Bartolo signed with the A's.

You gotta figure Scioscia is a strong favorite to get an extension at this point, wild card or not. And he'll keep Pujols right where he is for the next four years, sinking the team on a nightly basis hitting behind Trout as DH. We're already getting articles quantifying how he's the worst hitter in the game, so this is just gonna get otherworldly as he ages another decade or so over the next few seasons.

No, he won't bat there the next four years.  Albert won't even be around another four years.  I would be surprised if Albert hits 3rd to start next season, especially if we are active in free agency.

I don't know why Scioscia doesn't rest him two games per week?  I think Albert is playing in pain (duh) and in order to maximize his value he needs more rest.  With Escobar coming back it would be a great time to start this strategy.

Can you imagine Sciosca telling Albert- "You're going on the 10 day disabled list, then when you come back you'll be playing 4 or 5 games per week.  But Albert, you'll still be hitting 3rd."
