That would be Ed Walsh. The last guy to win 40 games, and once threw something like 450 innings in one season. That's why he had his career cut short.

"Big" Ed Walsh, that's correct.

Lowest career ERA all-time, 1.816. Also best FIP, 2.018 for you sabermetric freaks. By contrast, guys like Cy Young, Pete Alexander, and Bob Gibson are in the 2.8 range.

In a six-year period from 1907 thru 1912, Walsh's record was 151-99 with a 1.69 ERA in 2249 innings, an average of 375 innings each year. 42 shutouts in that six-year span.

My guess is Eddie Mathews, but I;m not 100% sure.

Eddie Mathews is correct. The other 3 in the picture never amounted to much.

The Crackers was a shortened version of the prior Atlanta minor league team, the Atlanta Firecrackers

They are not wearing pants because the photographer jokingly told them "head shots only"

The Crackers played at Ponce de Leon ballpark. The only stadium with ground rules for a tree! There was a giant Magnolia tree that stood in deep centerfield.(Tree is still standing in the parking lot of the strip mall built on the site). Lots of interesting stories regarding this ballpark.
