I will give Arte credit for backing off of big contracts for aging vets, ever since signing Hamilton.

This was a better result than I expected when the news of him reporting the relapse was first heard.

I expected them pretty much releasing him and paying pretty much all $83 million.

I'd say so. Last 2 offseasons have been solid IMO. No stupid signings, some really nice trades.

Read several posts up.  I was asking how he became wealthy before buying the Angels.  There's no way he was this reckless with money in his younger years. 

 

And I was responding to the idea that he has flushed 500 million away.   He's spent money, both good and bad to make more money.  

 

If Moreno is willing to take a 65 million dollar hit because of some principle he holds dear so be it.  It's his money.

We won almost 100 games last season without almost ZERO production from Josh Hamilton.

In fact, I'd go as far as aging if we had Cowgill or Green in LF over Josh last season we'd win 10+ more ballgames. Dude is an absolute mess at the plate and a headcase the team doesn't need in the clubhouse.

Cut your losses, good riddance. Great move!
