Angels Trade Josh Hamilton to Texas Rangers (Official)

Recommended Posts

i hope josh will rake against us

i dont know who agreed to this but paying 68mil is the biggest joke ever

embarrassing

What's more important to you?

That the Angels are a better team, or that they are not embarrassing?

Is it better to have a player with no passion, no offensive contribution to the team, who uses drugs and then says 'no' to the team's request to physically rehab at a location of the team's choice while that player is under contract?

Or is it better to keep that player at the risk of being embarrassed.  I'd say it's more embarrassing to keep someone on the team who does drugs, shows no -- and I mean ZERO -- offensive performance, and then ultimately defies the team's request to train in a known extended spring training league.  All while collecting tens of millions of dollars.

The Rangers are the ones who should be embarrassed here.

Can he be done with ownership? Can he and the DBacks owner trade franchises. I like what AZ does on and off the field.

You really don't want that..   Youre talking about an ownership group that actually has bought into a lot of caveman talk.   But if you're saying you hope he leaves the baseball stuff to his baseball people -- I fully agree.

I've always felt the success Disney had with Stoneman at the helm was 100% attributable to their having stepped aside and let Stoney run the franchise.

I don't think any other team in baseball has flushed anywhere near the amount of cash as Moreno.  Not even the Yankees.

I've never thought to compare it, not sure it's been 500 mil if thats the case but whatever.

BS aside, what sort of ownership would you prefer..    One that makes a mistake and then says -- oh well, keep playing him we are paying him or an Arte Moreno who sees the sunk cost and moves on regardless of the ridicule?

You can mock him for his mistakes all you want.  At least he hasn't turned tail or forced the team to carry the weight of his mistakes.  He's paid for them himself.  Once people get over being "humiliated" they might see the situation a bit differently.

I find it funny that no one gets pissed off when someone they don't know loses a ton of money either at the casino or on a business that went south....but some guy blows less than 1% of the teams value to cut bait on dead weight and you are all up in arms.....say it with me folks....

Retarded move. There was a good chance that Hamilton would have voided his own contract by not showing up because he can't stand being away from Texas.

He had lawyered up.  The longer it went on the messier it would get and the greater chance it became a distraction.

If the reports out there are correct and the best the MLPBA would have agreed to was a 90% buyout, then the Angels actually ended up with a better deal by trading him for 15 mil in relief.   Had they cut him loose he likely still signs with Texas anyway.

People will mock them, fans will bitch and moan, but beyond the emotional reactions they likely got the best possible deal they were going to get for a player they OBVIOUSLY wanted gone.

It's not about whose money it is.

It's about investing into something with passion and seeing questionable leadership and transactions.

Face palm stuff.

But it is about whose money it is. Just because someone is choosing to do something contrary to what you think they should do, doesn't make you right or them wrong or vice versa.

Kind of the norm for franchises whom spend a lot of money. For someone who follows soccer, you should fully grasp this truth
