Jepsen traded to TB for Matt Joyce

Hell, I delete like 10% of the posts I make because they're so ignorant. I tend to say whatever pops into my adhd brain, which doesn't usually translate to quality posts.

Good move.  It probably means that CJ Cron is a goner, though.  If we do trade CJ, he's one of the few young players we have that could get us a decent arm in return.

Disarcina, we absolutely do not need pitching depth. The Angels have possibly 8 viable starters as of April, by seasons end could be 12. The pen was rebuilt last year, added Ramos and have two other swingmen. With the departure of Howie this team needed offense and got that with Joyce. I think they should see if Cron can turn into a Victor Martinez type... He was a catcher in college.

For years, Jepsen was like the Jeff Mathis of the bullpen. Scioscia would keep handing him the ball despite his ballooning ERA and WHIP. Last year, Scioscia proved all of us naysayers wrong when Jepsen finally pitched like the guy he had been touted as 12 years ago.

The more and more I think of this trade, I think it's a heckuva trade for Dipoto.  Joyce is a quality player on the field and in the clubhouse.  He sold Jepsen high, and I doubt Jep comes close to last years stats.  Meanwhile, Joyce will be consistent offense, I hope, in the #2 spot. And the "I hope" is for batting 2nd.  I have confidence that he'll hit.

I'll take 250 with 10 jacks and a on base % of .349 like he had last year hitting in front of Trout.

Why would you hit that in front of Trout? Trout is so much better than Joyce he should be getting more PAs than Joyce. The extra runs Trout drives in from having a .350 OBP guy hit in front of him isn't enough to offset the loss of the 20 or so fewer plate appearances Trout will get by moving down in the lineup. A .400 OBP would be a different story.

Because Joyce gets on base at a really good clip. We have a better chance at scoring more runs of Trout is up in RBI situations.
