Jepsen traded to TB for Matt Joyce

If any of the two is a lock, it's Green, but they will battle it out in ST. Green will make the team regardless because he can play LF, CF, SS, 2B and 3B in a pinch.

Green deserves a shot at a fulltime gig at 2b. He's earned it. That's where his bat can stick and it's also his natural position defensively.

I think the Angels have been handling green pretty poorly imo.

Rutledge is bad. Hopefully he doesn't make the roster.

First 20 PlateaAppearances over.162 Games Is Not A Big deal.

second the top of the order usually all get five PA's a game. There is a reason why the best hitters are usually 8ththe middle order. Because tthe managers want players on base in front of them. Based on your logic the best hitters should all bat leadoff.

Why would you hit that in front of Trout? Trout is so much better than Joyce he should be getting more PAs than Joyce. The extra runs Trout drives in from having a .350 OBP guy hit in front of him isn't enough to offset the loss of the 20 or so fewer plate appearances Trout will get by moving down in the lineup. A .400 OBP would be a different story.

Green is little better defensively at 2b than rutledge imo

Here are their career numbers.

Josh Rutledge - Excluding Coors field

438 PA .230/.274/.354  .277 wOBA 71 wRC+

Grant Green

256 PA .259/.293/.347 .283 wOBA 82 wRC+

But yea the Angels don't seem to have any confidence in green. Never have and probably never will.
