Video Game Reviews: What Are You Playing?

Knowing how long the game takes, I'm not sure I'd play it again. I literally did everything one could in that game.....except I don't think I ever got a black chocobo and may or may not have beaten the the land ultimate creature (KOTR + Mime +etc, etc.)

I was in high school and wrote an English paper on the game haha. I just plagiarized the plot and turned it in. This game actually wrecked my grades.

Such a great game.  The only kinda bummer was at the end to fight those two ultimate guys it was just kotr, duplicate mime etc.

Kind of the same as Castlevania SOTN a great game but once you got one of the swords, I forget which, the game became so trivial that it wasn't fun anymore.

It's funny because the game was good and challenging, although I do remember at some point in the world you basically never lose and even the end fight was pretty easy. But the discrepancy between all the fights and then the ultimates was absurd.

The only tough fights I remember were obv the ultimates (I do remember beating the under water one), I think the first ultimate took some tries....I remember my PS froze every time during that cutscene where he comes up through the water attacking the city. My PS couldn't handle it. I think I remember having difficulty against the enemies in the mansion where you find Vincent. Two early ones were the sewer main enemy on your way to that whorehouse and I think Rufo at the Shinra HQ as the last battle before the real world.

Oh yeah, and the hardest, outside the ultimates, was the casino tournament because you had to spin the wheel and lose abilities. You always needed some luck to spin a 7 and not lose certain functions for certain fights.

There was just a specific strategy with the outside Ultimate in the desert.  You basically were guaranteed to lose one of your party members so you put a patsy out there and geared the other two with all the mime and 4x things.  If he killed the wrong guy you just left and came back.  Once you got in the endless KOTR mime routine he died.

Those two ultimates were way harder than the final boss.

You remember more about the game than I do.  Too many drugs I guess.

This is like finding out your son is gay

Final Fantasy games are really specific. They are that typical RPG game and unless you like those games (which I never have) then it's easy for people to not play them.

Plus I was never a Playstation kid so of course I wouldn't have any of the FF games.

Japan FF3 != US FF3 that is probably why it says NES.  Everywhere but the US it was FF6.

US basically got FF4, 5 and 6 as FF 1, 2, and 3.  First two were NES and the third was SNES.  Then they switched to the same version name as Japan when FF7 came out.  I have no idea why they did it that way.  The original FF1, 2, and 3 were never released in the US.

So, being on part XIV, when does " Final" part of this "Fantasy" come in?  This shit just keeps going...

Actually, I did play one FF game...FF XIII.  I got through about 30% before I gave up on it.  The visuals were stunning but couldn't really get into the story, characters or battle mechanics.  Of course, its greatest flaw was spawning a bunch of unfortunate cosplays of "Lightning".

That shit was my whole sophomore year of high school.

They all had methods. I remember sitting there basically creating algorithms for the hard ones haha.

Red 13 was tough if you didn't know the cheat. He kicked my ass a bit. Another one I remember is Jenova on the ship sailing from Juno.

The ones I hated were the maze ones like the pyramids, the dream chasing Aeris, and that snow town after the snowboarding.

Speaking of which, and how gay is this, I want to name my unborn daughter Iris and see if I can talk the lady into spelling it Aeris.

All this reminiscing, I may get this game again when the price drops. I'm still tied Up with the Black Friday games and since I'm always shooting for 100% may be tied up until then.

7 was great, 8 was great, 9 was ok, and I never finished 10 and stopped. The last I played was FF13 which was the MMORPG....straight nerds like you guys.

2 (4) was great (best boss music)

3 (6) even better

7 is still the best

Never really played anything else except 11 and let me tell you...if you want the definition of a GRIND game...that's the one for you.

14 I played for about an hour, but have heard it's been massive improved.
