How many starts will Blanton get with the Angels?

I have no problem with him filling in while someone is on the DL. He will get maybe 4 starts or so and that isn't enough to have a seriously negative impact on the season. The problem is if one of the starters goes down for longer than that and he has to be on the team for 2 straight months getting starts. This is especially an issue if the injured starter is Weaver or Wilson.

This is exactly why depth is important.

If he has a good spring and wins the #5 spot outright, all he'll have to do to keep his spot in the rotation is put up numbers similar to what Jerome did last year, which Blanton is definitely capable of doing.  Jerome got 25 starts last year, so any number of starts is possible if he can just duplicate Jerome's performance.

Do I want him as the #5?  No, but it wouldn't surprise me if he got 20+ starts with the way things have played out to this point.

10 to 15 -- I see no way around it.

perhaps more if the Halos can figure out a way to have Blanton start, pitch four innings and then have a scheduled rotation of pen guys behind him.

the Halos have spent some money for pen depth and if these guys stay healthy you could have Blanton for four innings, a pen guy for two, another pen guy for one or two, etc.

Hamiltown -- perhaps the Halos should play that video you posted above during the pre-game warm ups.......

I am sure it would get a reaction from the Anaheim crowd.

Of course, Blanton's had been getting the sort of reaction that would be expected from the crowd anyway (without viewing the video) just based on his record and, with Butcher's performance as pitching coach the past few years, the reaction to him is becoming about the same.......

but if the crowd saw this video posted on the big screen...........WHOA -- the reaction from an normally complacent Anaheim crowd would be anything but complacent.......
