Obamacare/Trumpcare Horror Stories

Recommended Posts

Just had a coworker get denied going through the process to get cochlear implants for his son.  The insurance coverage that we have at my work is through the hospital network (they insurance almost everyone in the state).  To be covered to get implants with our insurance you have to only have 18% or less hearing in your ears.  This was recently dropped from 30% because the affordable healthcare act and medicaid covers cochlear's at 40% hearing in your ears.  The insurance had to drop theirs to 18% because they are taking a financial loss at covering the 40%.  So basically if you are insured, going deaf in Utah, and don't have $50,000 grand in your pocket, you are screwed unless you are on government assistance.

Tell your friend to check out the free-market, cash only, Surgery Center of Oklahoma.  A good example of the fraud being perpetrated by the hospitals and insurance companies.

Get rid of the middlemen, and surprise(!), the cash price is only $8800.

It's not one bit over your head.  It's really that simple.  It has now been proven and established that Obama KNEW that many of us would not be able to keep our doctors (like me) and that many of us would be without insurance and that our rates would jump, which means that:  1.  Obama lied, and 2.  Obama had other motivation to push through the ACA.

Which prompts these questions:  WHY did he lie and WHAT is his motivation?  Ego?  Dislike of insurers, doctors?  Why this insistance to shove un-read, unproven legislation down America's throat?  At a calamitous economic time, at that!

It amazes me that the president KNEW the ACA would 'work' just as it has.  He KNEW that we'd lose our coverage and not be able to keep our doctors.  He KNEW our rates would go up.  He positively lied to get elected.  When you break it down, Obama was Nixonian in his drive to get re-elected.

And now, his ego won't allow him to back down, and he throws people like Sybillius under the bus.  Like idiots, alot of us are playing into his hands by pointing the finger at her.  She's simply falling on the sword.

I'll admit a lot of this is over my head and it might not be this simple. The way I see it the ACA was supposed to offer insurance to the millions of uninsured Americans and all it did was increase the number of uninsured people in this country?

My mom was in the hospital last week with heart problems.  They finally discharged her on the condition she see her cardiologist this past Monday.

There's a larger than usual shortage of cardiologists in OC because some don't want to deal with Obamacare, so they packed their bags and retired.   The cardiologists still practicing are so inundated with patients she can't get in for a follow-up for 2 weeks.  Had she not been hospitalized, the wait is 8 weeks for an appointment.

The preventive care notion being touted by Obama is complete bullshit.  Even those with insurance will be forced to use the ER because of the shortage of physicians...

Not to say I told you so but pretty much everything I have said and predicted has come true.

It is amazing how much the bill failed at what it was set out to do.  I guess that is what happens when you vilify the only people who actually knew something about it... the insurance companies.

What's more amazing is the amount of people who still defend the f'ing thing.

He didn't lie to get re-elected he lied to get through his program.  Which he believes will mark his presidency.  This program will slowly force a large majority of Amercians into what most liberals have wanted all along, to be in a government insurance managed program.

They couldn't get the votes for single-payer socialized medicine, so they created this monstrosity which is bound to fail and take the insurance companies down with it. Then the country will be ready for single-payer. The goal all along was to destroy the insurance companies.

The ultimate goal is the takeover of most, or all, of the economy by the government.

I saw a piece yesterday where Debbie Wasserman Schultz was trying to defend Obama's comments.  It was amazing she could state it with a straight face.  She said, "What the President meant was that when people see how wonderful Obamacare is, they won't want their own doctor and insurance policy."

They don't believe anything they say.  It's all lies and misdirection.

If they get enough low-income people dumped onto Medicaid or eligible for government subsidies, they won't care if the middle class gets thrown under the bus. It's all about the votes, and getting the 47% to rise to a majority. At that point, they'll have won, as people won't want to give up their goodies. People like Paul Ryan, one of the few lawmakers willing to seriously address the $90 trillion in unfunded entitlements, are immediately cast as villains who want to starve children and kill old people. There's no way, in this poisoned political atmosphere, that any real reform can be accomplished. Under Obamacare, medical costs will continue to rise at a rate greatly outpacing inflation. We're screwed.

We may need a new Constitutional Convention to right this ship.

what i don't get is if this was initially a plan to make health insurance available to those who can't afford it, why is it seemingly screwing over so many people who already have insurance? i dread going to my mailbox these days, fearing a letter from my employer about us losing our company insurance is just around the corner, and then we'll be stuck in this quagmire.

and i still can't get over the fact that if you qualify for obamacare but refuse to sign up for it, you get fined, err, "taxed". how the heck is that constitutional?!?

Obama illegally extended the employer mandate for a year, so non-union, non-government employees are safe until Nov.'14.

Union and Government employees have been exempted or are being subsidized thanks to Obama.

I don't really think it's surprising.  A lot of government ideas (i.e. spending money) follow a formula:

1. Promise something to a large group of people that of course costs money the government doesn't have

2. Raise taxes, fees, expenses, etc and project that it will be paid for from revenues that haven't come in

3. Part 2 doesn't go as planned for various reasons - in the case of taxes the wealhy use legal means to park money offshore, shelter income, etc.  The biggest issue here being the fact that the government is usually quite a bit off in regards to what something actually costs

4. The burden ends up falling on the middle class who by and large are just barely getting by
