Joe Maddon

Maddon is a good manager that pisses everyone off with his lineups and personnel decisions, just like Scioscia did.

The biggest job a manager has is in the clubhouse, and there isn't anyone better than him in there. Ohtani loves him and had thrived under him, Walsh specifically said he made the difference in his developmental leap as a player. Rendon, FWIW, days he truly buys what Maddon is selling. Behind the scenes, I'm told he and Fletcher and Upton are all on the same wavelength. Haven't really heard anything about Trout but I assume he's good with Maddon.

The only people that don't like Maddon are super fans that hate every manager.

I liked Scioscia.

Also @Dochalo and @Inside Pitch are definitely "super fans".

You liked Scioscia because he's all you knew as an Angels fan.

Scioscia was a good tactician. He was old school in the clubhouse and that worked for some guys who were on his good side, and definitely rubbed several the wrong way. But that's the kind of behavior you get away with when you're winning  as much as he did in 2002-2009.

But to pretend that Scioscia would've somehow guided this 2021 ball club to a better record than Joe Maddon so far is ridiculous.

You're arguing against things that aren't even being said.

Also wtf does this mean:

Maddon does a really good job at helping his players succeed. Like I already stated, he put Rizzo and Upton in the leadoff spot and both guys started thriving again once he put them there. Not to mention the shifts that he helped changed baseball when he was with the Rays. Those Rays pitchers benefited way more from the shifts than not. Managers started following his lead and now, shifts are common in the game. He might not be the best at managing a bullpen but with this bullpen, there's not really any good options for him to go to. Put any managers in his place and they would still look bad with this bullpen.

It means you had nothing to compare him to.

I knew Terry Collins. I was young but I knew about him. My dad hated him and wasn't shy about telling me why.

Not sure why that matters. You said:

I showed you a manager I liked.

Do you honestly think that nobody here was a fan of the team before Scioscia was hired?

I mean I was 10-12 during the Collins years. I was a fan but I wasn't really paying attention to what the manager was doing, especially because I lived in NH and only got to watch them when they played Boston (yuck).

In all fairness, while you are older than I am, my family wasn't a fan of Terry Collins at all.

You are literally impossible to converse with now because you've become an insufferable douchebag.

Go fuck yourself.

I believe you misunderstand. What I'm saying is that you liked Scioscia because there wasn't anything you had ever seriously compared him to.

Scioscia won. And he was beloved for it.

I apologize for that post. I deleted it.

Rough night at work.

I get labeled a super fan, I don’t hate every manager.  I do think Maddon is horribly over rated.  I used to say he was a more quotable Scioscia.  I was dead wrong and that offensive to Scioscia.  Both managers ran a good clubhouse.  Maddon gives Ohtani more freedom, which personally I feel is more Minasian since it just started this year after his arrival.  Scioscia valued defense more.  He also was better with his bullpen decisions.  He also let pitchers finish innings more often.
