Dombrowski has built winners in the past, but I do think he would be best served with a strong farm system builder as his #2.  I think most of us agree in that regard.

I agree how does Tampa and Oakland year after have teams in contention.

The concern is Arte.  The concern about Dombrowski isn’t Dombrowski himself, it’s that Arte is after him and the reasons for that.  I know that Dave Dombrowski is a good baseball guy.  I worry that Arte is onto something stupid.  I don’t think I’m being unreasonable.  But who can say I guess.

The Angels just shot themselves in the foot.

I don't know how much the rest of you know about GM culture (I'm an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in business where you can become successful by being an asshole. If you screw your GM over, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.

What this means is the GM public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to join the Angels, nor will any big FAs sign with them. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Arte has alienated an entire market with this move.

Arte Moreno, publicly apologize and cancel the Billy Eppler firing or you can kiss your business goodbye.

This teams failures since 2009 are 100% on Arte. Pujols, Hamilton, Wells, the terrible Scioscia and Upton extensions all Arte's doing.

Arte should fire himself for being an idiot instead of always using his GM's as a scapegoat for his own incompetence.

Good luck finding another GM. No one, and I mean no one actually good or qualified will want this job. The Angels are going to have to scrape at the bottom of the barrel to find someone willing to take this kind of abuse.

They know they are just a figurehead and Arte is the real GM.

I wonder if Eppler would have lasted another year if he had gone by Bill instead of Billy.

I know I took him less seriously on that alone.

I'm actually sad that Eppler got fired. He literally inherited a disaster. I said it at the time that he's in a no win situation and that it would be a miracle to turn this thing around in only 3 years.

Add to that a meddling owner who likes being de facto GM and you have a recipe for disaster.

The worst part is it feels like the angels are still stuck in no where land and still don't have a plan. They wont tank and don't have the farm to make a run in the future.
