The Dodgers' offer for Gerrit Cole was eight years for $300 million, per sources. It included deferrals. The Angels' offer was south of $300 million over eight years with deferrals.

 

I'm glad the Angels didn't get Cole being how expensive he was, but it is crazy to think their offer ended up being the third highest.  For an owner and GM to say their are all in and to end up in third place is embarrassing IMO.  Can you imagine if the Angels lost out on Cole to the Dodgers?

Close to a $300 million offer to an amazing pitcher is an indication of being all in.  Losing out to the two richest teams in the league doesn’t mean he wasn’t “all in”.

Sources close to the Angels said Arte had mentioned multiple times that he was all in.

The reality seems the Dodgers and Angels offers were dang close to each other.  The Angels can't help that the Yankees decided to offer an even more extreme amount.
