Madden out in Chi? Interest?

Supposedly Madden was told going into the year that without performance he would not be renewed.  Hes heavily rumored to be looked at by SD.  Anyone else here thing getting him makes more sense than keeping Ausmus?  If were going that direction why not get the manager that leads the way instead of someone reading the cliffs notes.

I like Maddon but I believe he’s overrated.  Is he better than Ausmus, maybe, probably.   Does he have enough credibility to ignore analytics at times?  He’s a guy that uses his gut.  I wouldn’t mind him coming back but I’m not entirely sure it makes much of a difference.  He’s a cooler Scioscia that might be quicker to play some young guys.

Fair, and frankly almost any manager today is overrated when most are just following the script the analytics kicks out, BUT... as you mention he has the credibility to play his gut and the moxy to get away with it when necessary, something im not sure Ausmus does.  I like the idea of a little old school combined with the new.  Just my 2 cents.

I don't think it happens. Someone currently on the staff is a better bet to replace Ausmus.

Madden was the bomb with the Raiders so why not.

Absolutely would be an upgrade to Ausmus. I've always been a huge fan of Joe Madden and I actually think the Cubs would be making a mistake letting him go if it happens.
