and let's be clear.

Ausmus was hired to execute the plan put in place by the front office.

a lot of stuff that Ausmus is getting blamed for is absolutely a directive from above.  If you think Ausmus is unilaterally deciding to put Sandoval or Suarez or Barria on a pitch limit then you are delusional.  If you think that he's the one deciding to have them as our rotation, then you're crazy.  He didn't put Bour, Allen, Harvey, Cozart, Bourjos, Cahill or Lucroy on the team.  He doesn't decide which pitches are thrown to which batter in certain situations.  He's got directives and he follows them.  90+ % of the in game strategy is predetermined.

If you don't like him because his personality bothers you then I get it.  But he's not to blame for this team's lack of talent.  His job is to maintain the clubhouse which probably has a 2-3 win impact on the season in one direction or another.  Maybe.

Remember when the Cubs were going to be a dynasty?  Good times...

Does Maddon surf?

Word is once Maddon is canned - he's going to be the new Dos Equis spokesperson

Beat me to it.

Theyre not a bad team. And maybe with a few tweaks theyre a powerhouse again.

But its pretty crazy how 2 yeara ago, they looked like theyd be perennial WS contenders.

They were in  a great position to do so. GREAT young core, affordable. Smart GM. Etc etc. Its tougher to sustain success than some think, even when you plan correctly.

Some people on here dont get that....

our opening day starter was Trevor Cahill.

the lineup had Justin Bour batting 3rd, Simmons hitting 4th, Cozart hitting 6th, Lucroy batting 8th, and Bourjos 9th.

on day 3 of the season, Felix Pena started and Cozart was our leadoff hitter.  Bourjos and Bour were also in the lineup again.

on day 4, our 3, 4, 5 hitters were Bour, Simmons, and Cozart.  Bourjos was also in the lineup.

on day 5, it was Chris Stratton toeing the mound who proceeded to give up 4 runs in the first.

on day 6, Cozart lead off again and Lucroy hit 5th.  Kevin Smith was the DH and Bourjos in LF with Cahill on the mound and Garcia was asked to keep the game tied in the 8th.

on day 7 matt Harvey gave up 8 runs on 10 hits in 4 innings.  Bour, Cozart, Lucroy and Bourjos all played.

but yeah.  it was a lack of preparation.

That’s on Eppler and his new Manager. They weren’t prepared to compete this entire season. They extended Trout and everyone was jumping for joy. Arte knew how to play it. Did you notice how many Mike Trout giveaways they had this season. Adult pacifiers.

But what about the Angels? Why is anyone pointing at Maddon and the Cubs who won a World Series but not missed the playoffs once in his five seasons. Have you looked at the standings? The Angels have worse problems. The Cubs can win next season, we probably won’t.

A better prepared team would have insured pussies like upton and ohtani didnt miss the first month. And pussies like them, and trout, didnt miss the end of the year. Like that twat La Stella.

Better prepared teams wouldnt just have fixed heaney, but skaggs would still be here. Fact. If skaggs wore pinstripes, things would be different.

And wed have better giveaways.

I can respect this response. It’s just going to be very difficult to reverse this situation in a timely manner. Sure they could sign a couple of free agents but it’s a much bigger problem than that.

Why don’t you call him a fucking idiot and be done with it?  At this point he is basically Kenny on South Park.  He gets murdered in every thread, but then comes back to life to be murdered again.  He knows exactly what he is doing.  It goes like this.

Dude says something stupid

Normal person shows him hes wrong

Dude changes narrative.

Narrative is dumb and proven to be wrong again.

Narrative changes yet again, still dumb (surprise).

No, it isn’t. Everything wrong with this team this season is a by-product of starting pitching.

Considering the offense lost Upton essentially for much of the year, lost Ohtani for the first and last months, and lost Trout for over half of September, it still functioned pretty solidly as a whole this season.

Only over the past couple of weeks, has the offense struggled to find consistency.

Focus definitely on two SOLID starting pitchers in the off-season, three if possible.

Incoming narrative shift to the Yankees and their injuries.
