The VA’s main issues are related to under funding.  Not the system.

That's just not true. In the wake of the VA scandal they have been trying to throw money at the problem with little to show for it. You can't just grow doctors on trees or convince the ones we do have that working for the government is a better idea than opening up their own private practice.

If you really want to embrace universal health care we are going to have to start accepting that this type of coverage is not going to include regular or timely access to a doctor. Doctors will be available to those who pay with cash or private insurance (which will mostly be put out of business) and those with the most urgent need (hopefully). The rest of us will be diagnosed by nurse practitioners or Watson perusing Web M.D.

Ya that’s rich.  The VA definitely has a long history of funding priority.

and what exactly is wrong with seeing a nurse practitioner or a physicians assistant ? Btw, plenty of people see those anyway.  Also, I don’t get to just go see a doctor whenever I feel like it.  BS.

There is nothing wrong with it, they are just lesser trained. With more people covered they are going to be asked to do more. Your access to an actual physician will decrease. This is lesser care. It's just basic supply and demand.

But it's righteous Socialism and we should all be grateful for lesser quality care and longer waits to see a physician and get needed tests. After all, there really is no rush to see a doctor about symptoms related to cancer, it can wait for 6 months or more. Ask people from the UK, or Canada.
