Martin Maldonado traded to the Astros

Recommended Posts

Don't like to lose Martin Maldonado - who I think did a stellar job behind the plate for our Halos.

But no regrets over this deal -- Halos had to make such a move - Maldonado's a F/A at the end of the year - he can really help a contender with a good pitching staff -- and that's Houston.

Good move -- we get a pitcher who can probably stick with the big club next year, provide some pen depth and is under club control for about four or five years.

Also -reflects reality -- we are sellers.........

Does this trade mean / mark the near of the end of the Scioscia era in Anaheim?

Yikes! Class of '71. The second class of students to complete all four years there. I believe it was founded in 1967. I entered in '68.

I moved to El Toro (later called Lake Forest) in Oct of '66. There was still no one living in MV, although homes had been started. People lived in El Toro and Laguna Hills, but not MV.

As Jr high kids, we were bussed all the way to Irvine to a school called Irvine Intermediate School that was a K-8. It was off Sand Canyon and the I-5. The last time I was in So Cal, I believe it was converted to a school bus parking area there and a very small Christian church was still there. Of course, El Toro MCAS was there, and very close. We were part of Tustin Unified School District, as the time.

I can barely recognize South County now, when I go back, especially the way it is growing along the inland toll roads between San Clemente and NE Irvine. The roads will NEVER be able to keep up with all that traffic.

Pretty sure Sandoval is at least two years out. Which would be moving quickly.

Man, that's going to be a pretty quick jump to AAA and recovery from PSS.

One of the better catchers we've had in a whileeee. Great arm and defense. He seemed to enjoy his time here and it seems like he wants to be a starter so why not just re sign him next off season if both sides are interested?

We are out of the post season race and Maldonado is only signed through 2018....division makes no difference, at least not to me.....

+ at least it isn't the Rangers, Mariners & Athletics. Angels don't have any bad blood with the Astros that i know of, their competitive rivals but not a team they hate alot.

Besides helping them means more Kate Upton boobs in the playoffs.
