I can figure that out. They are too busy playing basketball and football. It's a faster route to the stardom and it has way more eyes watching it. Plus u can't just play baseball alone like u can running for football or shooting hoops for basketball. It's not a black thing it's a American societal thing where our attention spans are miniscule

How many blacks are supposed to be major leaguers?  How many Hispanics are supposed to be in medical school? How many Irish Americans are supposed to be rap stars?  How many Asians are supposed to be in the NBA? How many lesbians are supposed to be ventriloquists?

Lots of work to do here to straighten things out.

Games take 4 hours to finish and they are worried about this "hazing"?

Oh come on, it's not like creating a rule preventing "hazing" is taking away time and effort from other issues.
Some legal/PR guy probably brought it up as a concern, which is understandable in today's climate, and it was a common sense decision.

Yep. It was probably a throw-in as part of the CBA. It eliminates something stupid. Fixing this and improving pace of play are not mutually exclusive.

If rookies don't appreciate being dressed up as females and paraded in front of the media and fans, then find another occupation, because I guarantee you, there are THOUSANDS toiling in the minor leagues and MILLIONS elsewhere that would do just about anything to be in your spot.

Yeah, I'm sure they'd all lined up to get kicked in the nuts by Chuck Norris if it meant getting to the big leagues. But that would be stupid and we would never implement that. Just because people are willing to do something stupid that they wouldn't normally do to reach their goal, does it mean we should make them? Of course not. Outrage over this is absurd.

Hazing and initiation rituals have been around for a long time and most participants of something as harmless as a day of cross dressing are fairly willing participants if it gets them accepted in the new circle. The problem comes with every action being reported and photographed and shown to the world. They'll just have to find a more private way to haze.

Put a sign up in the locker room stating "Don't Tweet the Circle Jerk".

It was also reported that another hazing ritual, where visiting rookies dressed in full uniform go across the street from Wrigley to pick up coffee for the vets, is still allowed.

So, they're not banning hazing outright. They're just trying to get out ahead of the Rangers circle jerk BS and any additional bad PR from it.

And yeah, some rookie may also actually be offended or uncomfortable with it.

The Lesbian Ventriloquism intriges me... do you have a newsletter that I could subscribe to?

It is a good thing they don't haze. I watched "42" the other day, and they called a lot of what they did to Jackie simple "Hazing" too. We live in a different world now, and we shouldn't dress players in women's clothes for a kick.

They also shouldn't force jerk someone off.

Should they have to carry the veteran's bags? Absolutely.

Are they the low men on the totem pole? Yup.

Book reports in Spring Training? Yep.

Should they freak out when an ostrich is brought into the clubhouse? Yes.

Political correctness in this instance has nothing to do with this, it has every thing to do with humiliating people and getting your jollies at someone else's expense!

Bitching about "political correctness" is just rhetoric for people that have a need to use offensive language or actions.

If you are humiliated having to dress as a woman then you are pretty thinned skin.

The practice is done expressly to humiliate people, otherwise why parade them in such a matter in a public place?

Thin-skinned, that's pretty funny.

Getting your jollies at the expense of others is boorish behavior!

The travel staff takes offense to this. That's their job.

Then what's the point of the whole thing?

The argument seems to be "dressing people as women isn't a big deal and didn't matter but I'm upset they are getting rid of it!"

The point is basically an initiation, to tell them they are one of the guys.  But seriously if you are humiliated by this then yea, my opinion is you are thinned skin.
