  1. Lacob is also a self-proclaimed Angels fan, grew up in Anaheim and graduated from Katella High. According to an OCR article he also sold peanuts as games to be able to watch the Angels growing up. I'm not holding my breath but seeing how the Warriors have been run definitely make me hope Lacob is still an Angels fan and interested in buying the team.
  2. Are there any updates on Nate Smith? It’s approaching one year since he underwent surgery. Julio Urias underwent the same surgery and it took a year and change until he was able to make a rehab appearance and even then Urias has looked like a shell of his former self which from some cursory research appears to be the norm for this kind of surgery.
  3. Nice job by the FSW graphics guys honoring Chad Pennington's first career gs.
  4. I think one of the interesting things to watch if Price gets TJ is if he opts into his contract after 2018 and the Sox are on the hook for 4 seasons of 30mil+ on a pitcher coming back from TJ. Would this cause teams to stop offering these massive contracts with early year opt outs banking on said player opting out. I assume this wouldn't really affect things, but maybe this locks out smaller market clubs from reeling in big FAs, not that small market clubs were truly big players in FA anyway.
  5. Frieri wasn't a throw-in, Dipoto acquired him for two mediocre prospects (Alexi Amarista and Donn Roach) who were our 12th and 16th best prospects at the time. Both haven't amounted to much, but I guess that says more about the Angel's farm system at the time than anything else.
  6. Alex Torres used a prototype protective cap at a Padres home game against the Dodgers during the 2014 season.
  7. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/matt-shoemaker-borrows-from-the-tanaka-playbook/ "Shoemaker’s splitter isn’t elite; unlike with Tanaka" Hopefully this change that Shoemaker's made allows him to have continued success, and although he isn't at Tanaka's level, getting decent starts from him definitely will aid the Angels this year. In regards to injury concerns, Tanaka had the partial tear of the UCL that he healed without TJs, so there's of course that to be worried about if Shoemaker continues down this path.
  8. "The following provision shall apply only to each Player who becomes a free agent under this Section B after having been continuously under reserve (without interruption) to the same Club (either at the Major or Minor League level) since Opening Day of the recently completed championship season (“Qualified Free Agent”)." Looks like you're right, we cannot offer Lincecum a QO at the end of this season.
  9. If he does well we'll just hit him with a QO and collect a mid 20s to mid 30s pick. Not too bad, considering he's probably aiming for 1 more big deal.
  10. The best part of the inning was when Vin Scully called Giavotella "the pest" and then he proceeded to get on board due to an error by Howie.
  11. At this point I think its unlikely he'll even be able to grab a minor league deal from a team.
  12. That was Escobar not Giavotella.
  13. Let Weaver pitch every home day game.
  14. Man it's so nice that we have Heaney instead of Lee.
  15. Fun fact about Cotton, he tied with Sherman Johnson at the top of Fangraph's 2015 Fringe Five, which basically noted prospects that were overlooked by major publications top prospect lists.
