This isn't costing the Angels much to sign him so why not? Maybe he finds his mojo like Kazmir did.

^^^This^^^....Minimal cost, he's better than Shoe....what's to lose?....As Mr. Lawrence said, if the team tanks but he pitches well, you trade him....if the team does better and he pitches well, you look at him (same applies to Chacin) for next year....

This is a smart signing in my opinion if it happens. As I said the other day there isn't much downside to this as a ) He will likely not cost much in terms of dollars, b ) He can potentially help the team eat innings and if we actually make it back into contention he will have proven to be a sound investment, and c ) If the Angels ARE NOT in contention we may be able to flip him at the trade deadline for something worthwhile.

i dont get this i really dont, its such mixed signals.  Why bother with this after passing one so many other options to help the club?
Does he suddenly put us back in the race somehow?  i doubt it, still cant hit.
Are they going to try to spin him but he signs with us for a ML deal?

color me confused.

Angels aren't going to throw away the season this early. That would be a catastrophe for the clubhouse.

More importantly, this team needs arms in the rotation still, regardless of what happens from now. With Weaver/Wilson gone after this year and Richards/Heaney potentially out for most of 2016, the only starters under contract in 2017 would be Santiago, Tropeano, Skaggs and Shoemaker. If Lincecum is signed through 2017, he gives the rotation innings at the very least. If he does well, then the team gets good value out of him and they get the option of trading him.
