This could be a move to entice Sosh to opt of his contract as well.

 

I am surprised that both got canned.  Scioscia should have his choice on who is on his coaching staff, so I suspect he was in agreement in the change.

It'll be interesting to see if Eppler moves some guys from the Yankees to the Angels. Gotta figure Servais and Klentak are gone, he'll also need a pitching and hitting coach. I know the Yankees among others expressed interest in bringing in Jason Giambi as a hitting coach.

There's also Kevin Long, who worked does NY and helped guys like Brandon Wood and Vernon Wells self diagnose, which isn't a great track record.

Butcher, meh, dont think he was as bad as some do, but probably wasnt good enough to be irreplaceable either. Baylor...tough one. They sucked this year but killed it last year. Dont know ehat to think. But im a guge fan of the guy so kind of bummed to hear this

I work in an annual, renewable contract environment and there's a lot of euphemism surrounding the process. No one is ever "fired" they are just notified that their contract will not be renewed (and occasionally reassigned to "special projects"). They are, in fact, being canned because the default state is that your contract is renewed, so people naturally equate the two actions as the same.
