We could cut loose Florida Bugs Bunny style, The French can have New Orleans and it's non stop flooding, nobody would care if Arkansas and Oklahoma went away, the Northwest can go back to the indigenous tribes of vegans and gays, while Montana and the Dakotas can be Canada's health care problem. California is already northern Mexico and we can just say Arizona and New Mexico is the unsettled frontier.
