Rosenthal's reporting that Colon has finally been placed on waivers. Has to make it through 28 teams, but he could be a nice addition if he makes it all the way through. The way I see it, the biggest challenges will be other AL teams (specifically the Yankees, Orioles, and Mariners.) Don't think Detroit or Oakland would give up the resources for a starter. What do you guys think?

Dodgers will claim him if he gets that far. They need starters and had have money. No way he reaches the AL

People have too high of expectations if they think we are getting anything of real value through the waiver wire.

We are in a bad position and I'm not even real sure we have pieces to trade to obtain anything of value.

Definitely have a realistic expectation. The club isn't one to knee jerk.

As a whole they seem to be. I'd be mad if I saw one of our guys linked to that whole scandal.

Because once a team claims him either the Rangers can pull him back or the team that gets the claim still has to propose a trade that the Rangers would take.

 

I actually don't get the waiver system. It is no difference than before the trade deadline except everyone knows who has been put on waivers and the pick system. Teams still have to supple a worthwhile trade for a player to exit.

When the the next round of Biogenesis names are released, I'm going to be upset if any of our guys are involved. I'd rather not have the Angels mixed up in all that and Colon already is.

As far as Colon is concerned, I doubt he or anyone else falls to us. But if we can get someone who will help us (and wouldn't cost too much), then we should get him.

Either way I don't see the Angels signing him with a $11M price tag attached to him for 2015.

My guess is that people passed on them because they believed that the Rangers' asking price would be ridiculously high. I would have liked to add Beltre (which we should have done years ago), but they would have killed us in any kind of deal.

11m due in 2015? Isn't that a steal considering how the FA SP market has been the last few off seasons?

Also when will we know if he is claimed by a team or cleared?

Tough choice for some teams to make -- do you claim the guy to block the Halos OR do you let him through knowing that if he gets dealt to the Halos that the Halos will have to significantly over-pay to get a one month rental guy.

lot of the other guys clearing waivers have huge contracts that no one wants to take on -- and then you have to give something up to trade for the guy that will make your payroll skyrocket?
