Mike Trout

Clayton Kershaw

Craig Kimbrel

Miguel Cabrera

Buster Posey

One OF, one IF, one Catcher, one Starting Pitcher, and one Reliever. Gotta work on your core! :)

Why?  Cabrera is only 5 months older so it can't be an issue of age.  I like Votto but Cabrera has been the much better all around threat offensively while Votto's HR's have been on the decline since 2010.

Votto makes the entire infield better with his gold glove defense at first, and he consistently leads the league in OBP. He is a very intelligent hitter. I also see Votto aging better than Cabrera.

Trout. The best player in the AL. (He'd play LCF)

Cano. Best 2B in the game.

McCutchen. The best player in the NL. (He'd play RCF)

Tulowitski. The best infielder in the NL.

Posey. The best catcher in baseball.

Others I'd take to fill out my lineup (assuming I can't have any more marquee names).

Billy Hamilton, OF, Reds. With the five guys above I can afford to carry a low average hitter. Especially with his speed.

Freddie Freeman, 1B, Braves.

Matt Carpenter, 3B, Cardinals.

Edwin Encarnacion, DH, Blue Jays.

Let's score some runs. Pitching be damned.

Shouldn't the question be, "Which 4 guys would you team with Mike Trout...?"

"Which 3 guys would you team with Trout and Kershaw?"

To me the priority is addressing the highest value positions first.  Trout and Kershaw take care of CF/SP, for the rest:

C  Posey (would be Molina if age wasn't an issue)

SS Tulowitzki (really want to pick Simmons, if he could just get that OPS up like 40-50 pts)

#2 SP Fernandez
