Morosi with an interesting trade idea

Someone on Twitter suggested to Jon, Kendrick to the Tigers for Doug Fister.

 

I'd do that in an instant. Thoughts?

Funny enough my next 'Hot Stove Trade Speculation' submission involves the Tigers, lol. I'll get it to you soon Chuck.

 

I focused on Scherzer or possibly Rick Porcello (who might come the cheapest but he is a good pitcher) in a Kendrick based trade. The reason I didn't consider Fister for Kendrick straight up is that Fister appears more valuable than Kendrick from a WAR standpoint.

 

However Mike if a straight up trade of Fister for Kendrick went through I'd be pretty ecstatic.

Fister is much better, Chuck. Strikeouts are similar. Fister walks fewer and doesn't give up the long ball like Vargas.

Even with Arbitration, Fister is likely going to be cheaper than Vargas. He's also unquestionably a better pitcher. Vargas has 1 season with an ERA+ above 100. Fister has had just one season BELOW 100.

Rick Porcello is still young for the years he has logged and may develop to a better than 4.50 era pitcher but the only image I have of him is the Angels lighting him up like a Tiki Torch at a Hawaiian barbeque.

 Having Miggy, Peralta, Prince behind him doesn't help, as he is a groundball pitcher.

I would do that trade in a heartbeat.  It'd save the Angels at least 5 million this year alone and take a good pitcher and place in in front of a better defense in a pitcher's park.  I think that Fister on this team would give us a sub 3.50 ERA and would equate to a solid #3 starter.  

 

I'm just not sure I could stand the endless jokes about his name.

Seems like a relatively even trade. Fister is a classic #3 starter (and a half-step above Vargas, who is Joe Saunders Part Deux) and Howie is an above average regular.

 

Make it happen, Jerry, and give HBMike 1%.
